Mirror’s Edge, anyone?
“Speed running” is to “Playing a game” as “Formula-1 Racing” is to “Driving a car to the store”
I was talking about Mirror’s Edge speed runs. There are more shortcuts and clever ways around obstacles used to speedrun than gamebreaking glitches (usually). Just an example of one game where the purpose of it is pretty much speedruns.
Like using grenades to pop through unbreakable/unopenable windows. It’s a weird glitch to day the least.
I found it more glitchy to use grenades to climb towers and discover major characters standing on the roofs.

To my knoweledge, POM (if done right) is a rather large resourcehog…
You left out “Make use of unfairly, benefit unjustly from the work of.” Like, oh, I don’t know, exploiting bugs or design flaws in a game?
Why do you think you get updates for games like TF2 that say “Fixed an exploit where the player yada yada yada”?
iirc, they were using parallax mapping at one point (for some reason I recall Raminator talking about it in Blast Pit) but it was unstable.
Personally I think as an effect it’s flawed and best used in small amounts such as decals (as in titles such as Fallout 3, GTA4 and at a push F.E.A.R)
Steep Parallax or Relief mapping is not practical for its cost, instead we use SSBumps developed by valve.

Just because a person learns the game and what can be done with Out cheating in it, doesn’t mean you cant do the same thing - everyone has the same equal opportunity to have the same advantages. some of us just have greater skill at obtaining them. That’s all I’m saying.
I also heard that POM is a big hog too, unless you got the equipment to counter it of course. But it really depends on how much of it is around in a particular area. I’m sure if the Dev for BMS had wanted to, they could add this as an option to turn on/off depending on if you want it or not. Well I’m not SURE they can do it, but that would be a great feature. Think that would be possible? maybe for a later update after release?
It looks pretty fucking awesome but I can invisage a lot of flaming video cards and mother boards as a result of it.

Get rid of that Quake style side-to-side running, it’s more of an annoyance than a cool feature.
