Good Anime

Well yes, this is the point where I say “Yes, I have, I’ve seen *** and *** and *** and a dozen more because friends of mine wank all over that shit and keep telling me to watch it”, and you’ll reply with “See, those are the shitty ones, watch some proper ones!”.

But for your amusement, I’ll give you a list (forgive me if I spelled most of them wrong)

Elfen Leid, Death Note, Hellsing, Full Metal Alchemist, Some Gundam stuff, Dragonball (Z, GT), Samurai Champloo, Rurouni Kenshin, Vampire Hunter, Cowboy Bebop, Bleach, and probably a bunch more.

Everything I saw was utter shite in terms of visuals and storytelling. Don’t trust the Japanese with telling proper stories. Ever.

Rurouni Kenshin, Cowboy Bebop, and Hellsing (though you probably watched the show, not the OVA) are really the only ones that I like. I’ve heard that Full Metal Alchemist was pretty good but I don’t really like it. Death Note starts off good but goes down hill pretty fast, as does Bleach and Naruto. Never really got into Gundam and Elfen Leid and Vampire Hunter D are utter shit. And the DBs decline as they go through each series until you get to GT which is a big steaming pile.

I don’t really understand why you didn’t like at least some of those, though I’m not going to criticize you since you’ve seen some good ones. Least you didn’t just list Naruto, Bleach, and Elfen Leid, then we might’ve had a problem  .

I would suggest trying Berserk, though. All of the ones you’ve listed are shounen which is pretty much for little kids (besides Elfen Leid). Berserk is actually written for adults and is probably the best manga out there right now in terms of story. The art is phenomenal as well. And you’ve only watched the anime of the ones you listed right? Yeah, anime is known for having pretty crappy art at times but the manga versions of many of those are much much better than their anime counterparts.

I don’t watch much anime but here’s a rundown.

Elfen lied was pretty good, Death Note was total shit, Cowboy Bebop was ok don’t forget to watch the movie, Trigun was not bad, only got interesting towards the end though, I kinda liked gantz but it was just ridiculously overdone at the end, I liked where the story in Bleach was going but it’s not gonna get interesting for a while because of the goddamn never ending filler episodes, and I’m not gonna read the manga, a book is a book.

The original Dragonball is better than Dragonball Z (I mean seriously, in dragonball they spend all their time training to beat people from other countries, but then in dragonball Z they suddenly have to defeat the most powerful fighters in the universe so what do they do? they train some more, how ridiculous can a storyline get…) and dragonball GT is just stupid.

I have a friend who’s so into anime he’ll watch anything, I mean he watched claymore and thought it was good.

Hentai=/=Anime

I used to love hentai but then I grew up and now I only watch real porn, anyway the only thing that has worse animation quality than anime is hentai…

Haha, every time i see the thread title it cracks me up.

Who the fuck revived it anyway

I don’t know, but £10 says there whacking off to a Japanese women with fox ears and a cows tail right about now.

There’s no such thing as good anime, it’s a contradiction in terms :frowning:

Oh! Like smart Cockroach.

No it’s not. If you think most Anime sucks, then check out History’s Strongest Disciple Kenichi, Paranoia Agent, and Trigun. Those are the three highest quality anime series that I know of. (in ascending order, Trigun is the best of the bunch, and I’m willing to bet even Anime Haters would have trouble dissing it)

People may claim Akira, Evangelion, and Cowboy Beebop as being high quality, but they’re all fairly pretentious pieces that are technically good, but apparently lose track of having a story about halfway through.

I’d recommend more, but I actually prefer humorous anime, which usually indulges in more of the conventions that annoy people who aren’t into anime. Most of the other anime series that I might recommend are usually things that I enjoyed the manga for, but the anime wasn’t really as good. I could recommend you a shit-ton of manga.

All horror movies suck.

That has nothing to do with not liking anime.

You just have bad taste.

Nah, I just grew up in a society that appreciates proper artwork.

Samurai Champloo is fantasticly animated. It’s on par with more than one animated feature film. I don’t know how you could find that Samurai Champloo has bad artwork. And who are you to decide what’s ‘proper artwork’ anyway?

I’ll agree with Samurai Champloo has some really nice animation, and I enjoyed that show the most of the ones I watched, but it still doesn’t change the horrible Japanese way of storytelling.

But apart from that one show, I haven’t seen any anime that felt like it was done by proper artists. It felt like they were created by computers that randomly pick a head/body/props from a library and adds some keyframed animations.

And I’m not the one to decide what proper artwork is, I can only go by what I see, and what I see in anime, is animation with as little artistic input as possible.

I’l agree that there are alot of badly animated animes. But have you seen any European of American cartoons these days? They’re just as bad or worse.

Oh yes I have, and that’s a whole different discussion, but that wasn’t what this thread was about.

Neither was it about artwork for that matter.
