I’ve only seen a clip but it did look interesting.
I know this thread has been dead for a very very long time, but I just finished watching Code Geass (it’s the future, Japan and almost all other nations have become colonies of a totalitarian and discriminating empire called Brutania, an outcast Brutanian prince attempts to overthrow the empire and establish a peaceful world order). BEST FUCKING ANIME EVER. Hands down. It’s brilliant. All of you must watch it. The ending is sad, but perfect. Watch it. Seriously, do it. Even if you don’t like anime.
Not nearly as amazing, but still really good, though at times a little twisted, is Elfin Lied (strange virus gives certain people horns homicidal tenancies and telekinesis-like powers). Unfortunately, like almost all good animes, it is really short. Definitely worth watching, but not nearly as good as Code Geass.
Then, finally, I tried Black Lagoon (mercenaries make friends with their hostage and the hostage joins them) but gave up on it really quickly. It was waaaaayyyyy to cliche for my tastes. It was the old “we’re badass muthafuckin criminals but we also have soft sides and honor” story.
I’ll try Cowboy Bepop next seeing as so many people seem to like it.

All 3 are excellent, my personal favorite being One Piece. If possible though, I would suggest the manga over the anime.
