Goldeneye Source

I’m downloading it now, anyone play the beta? Ive only played the original on an emulator for the PC

Everyone once in a long while there is a thread worth the effort and time put into it by the OP. And this is one, thanks for sharing I’m downloading now.

Also I’m sure most people already know, but the Wii has an official remake for GoldenEye that came out not to long ago.

I downloaded that once. I never saw any servers being played, so I ditched it. Only MP mods I really ever got into were Dystopia and Neotokyo.

I used to play an older version of Goldeneye Source, but havent downloaded the newest version because my internet is damn slow
There were almost always people playing on a server. I really like the mod, as I’m a big fan of the original. Also, i dont need a reticule to know where im shooting, so that gave me an edge over most other players haha.

@k3nny1550: you should check out Empires. It can be extremely fun when you find a server with a bunch of players.

Since the 4.1 release (that came out like one week ago), the mod is no longer in beta and there is a shit load of people playing it. No wonder why Goldeneye : Source is number 1 on moddb (I voted for it).

I’m just gonna wait for the single-player version to come out.

I played it for awhile before. I always seemed to get the Golden Gun which allowed me to own everyone else :awesome: . The only thing I found wrong with it was that you could kill someone on the other side of a stage with a pistol if you wanted to. I might redownload it soon.

Well they said they will finish the multiplayer first so you may wait a long time.

Where have you been? I played it like what? 2 years ago?

Multiplayer just went out of beta, I consider that finished, and I don’t care how long I have to wait.

Well guess what it isn’t. There’s still 6-7 maps missing, 2 weapons are still being working on (the tazor boy and the lazer watch) and let’s not talk about the characters.

Trust me it’s gonna be long. :3

Wasn’t aware that they were out of Beta. Nice. I shall be joining the fray sometime soon here, once the download has completed.

btw, for those who don’t know, Goldeneye 007 for the Wii isn’t exactly a remake (like what Goldeneye Source essentially is), it’s more of a remimagining of the original script with Daniel Craig instead of Pierce Brosnan. Works really well, and the online component was put together expertly. I love it, but GE: Source is the place to go for HD remade levels from the original.

And if you haven’t played the original on an actual N64, shame on you for using an emulator.

so I’ve been playing for the past couple of days. I can honestly say the game plays like crap. I haven’t been more frustrated with an online shooter in my life.

This is the final release

What do you find wrong with it?

I’m retarded, someone delete this post please.

Nintendo games are for the most part shitty and are not worth the weight of the hardware they play on, so emulators are really the only way to go, unless you have family with disposable income to spend on crappy consoles for one or two games that are worth playing. And in the heady days of the nes emulators and rom swapping, you could get the whole nes and super nes library in one file that fit on a cd, even if you only wanted to play 5 of them.

I don’t know, it seems like it’s too easy for noobs to just spam the fire button while running around aimlessly. Perhaps I’m doing it wrong, but I try to line up my shots while aiming AND moving to avoid being hit. Although I think I’m pretty accurate with the headshots, I seem to be defeated easily by the players who do nothing more than spray fire without aiming.

Also, the spawning is pretty bad - I’ve had instances where I’ll spawn in the same area with a guy with a golden gun multiple times in a row. I know that’s a difficult thing to code, but man it sucks when you get spawn killed by a golden gun 3 times in a row!

All in all, I guess I can’t complain too much because it is a mod and they did do a decent job on emulating the original. I’m just still trying to decide if adding 16 additional players breaks the gameplay that made the original so much fun.

Sorry to say this, but the N64 had far more than just a couple of good games. tbh, the only PC game that I preferred to console games at the time was Counter Strike.

Perfect Dark, Smash Bros., and Goldeneye is what filled up my time at home, and CS was played at school during home room.

What the fuck is wrong with you?
