Just registered with reddit to vote up. Also does somebody know if Steam checks IP-adresses when accounts are registered? I wanted to “help out some friends”, who don’t have an account yet, but want this MF to succeed.

Where did you get this number from?

It correlates with the number of votes that were still displayed before the update and the according percentage shown.

I saw it on the home page and at first thought it was some Moddb award, then I clicked and I was like:
