Gaming Graphics Card: ATI vs GeForce

Which graphics card do you use? And what is your opinion on which one is better?

Ill vote for GeForce because it accomplishes what it was set out to do, and thats to game. Bench mark tests (e.g. using games like Crysis on high resolution and on high settings) prove that it is better, and higher in performance when compared to ATI.

ib4 raging flamewar

but nvidia. its just a personal thing. one side is green, one is red.

Right now ya gotta give it to AMD. They have a lower power DX11 card that has a better price/performance at every price point, while also claiming the most powerful single card. nvidia has no cards on the lower power fab process out right now to draw less power, and they have no dx11 cards out yet. They’ve cut prices, and they do have physX, but that isn’t taking off fast enough to be of any consideration. Right now it’s AMD. Without question. Even informed nvidia pundits will say as much. HOWEVER, nvidia is claiming some damn big performance with some ( probably exaggerated ) claims that their flagship card will more than double the performance of the 5870. That would put it well ahead of the 5970. With fab process problems on both sides it’s hard to say how things will go, but nvidia is close to release, as shown by them running a card through the dx11 benchmark out there.
Right now, hands down, it’s AMD. That could flip flop in the next month though.

I think Crysis is actually the only game where Nvidia still wins tbh shifty.

I’ve switched between the two over the years, but i’ve been very happy with my old 4870 and current 4870x2, amazing card!

Crysis is optimized for nvidia cards so of course they will preform better, with the exception of the 5970. That beast has 3200 stream processors, 2gb of GDDR5 memory, supports eyeinfinty with allows you to have up to six (correct me if im wrong) monitors, and it has DX11. It fucking runs laps around the GTX295. Im personally running two XFX Xtreme Edition 4890s in CrossfireX. OC these cards and you’ve got one hell of a setup.

Fuck and I thought my 5770 was pretty good.

AMD makes the better processor, Nvidia makes the better GPU.
Just my opinion.
[COLOR=’#212121’]And no, I’m not saying AMD makes a better processor than Nvidia, idiots.

It is a pretty good card, there are better, but its still a very good card none the less.

@Dillxn:That’s not really a fair comparison as nvidia doesn’t have the licensing to produce a CPU.

So?
He was saying AMD vs Intel and nVidia vs ATI(AMD)

I have to go nvidia, ive never had problems with em, though right now AMD has a DX11 series while nvidia doesnt, but the new fermi architecture has me excited, and when released its nVidia all the way.

No he wasn’t.
MAYBE he meant to but he didn’t.
Also, who is AMD better than in the CPU field? Cyrix?
People so convinced that nvidia has the better GPU right now should see what the high transistor larger GT200, and GT200b chips have done to their profit margins.
I really hope nvidia rebounds because the quick pace int he GPU world over the past while has really driven performance. a big performance leap going into DX11 might make even first gen dx11 GPUS serviceable in DX11 applications.

I’m more familiar with the nVidia company. I once had the pockets for a gaming rig, and then I found out I needed to roll Mac for school. I had intentions of grabbing 2x GTX 295 FTW editions. Now that I am reading up on the DX11 cards and the fact I can have 6 screens on one card, that’s making me joy happy right now considering the more I can run at once with graphics [since I tend to have photoshop on one screen and illustrator on the other], I would then be able to run indesign and safari and the list goes on. So my final statement is that I’m walking the line.

I like my GPU’s to come in red.
I’ll take them green if they are better at that time

I am using an old ATi Mobility Radeon HD 2400. Still kicks the living daylight out of Civilization 1… and L4D.

i liek tha [COLOR=‘Green’]green thing betta.

nVidia because I follow the numbering conventions and how good they run, more or less. I’d have to put more research into the ATI cards, which I can’t be bothered to do if I’m not in the market for another card any time soon.

Well, I used to have nvidia cards all the way but my recently-bought pc uses the HD 5770. I’ll see if it’s any good.

I just buy what’s fastest. I don’t care if that’s an nvidia or an ati.
I currently have an 4870x2, actually wanted a 295GTX but they were in stock nowhere in pretty much the entire country, and I didn’t feel like waiting. My previous card was an 6800GT. And I had an AMD processor, now I have an intel i7.

well i have 3 5870 card and my computer beats the shit out of crysis so Ati ftw

u should sell em and buy two 5970s, u’ll get better perfromance and save some cash.

My old 8800GT is still chugging along nicely. I’ll wait till nVidia release their DX11 cards and see how the benchmark wars play out till I buy my next card. Also Max, your posts are starting not to make sense, reread what you typed :fffuuu:
