G-man

Your comedy is weak, at least make a post worth reading.

Between some of Nihilanth’s actual dialogue and later confirmation by Laidlaw, it has been revealed that indeed, Nihilanth had once been a slave to the Combine. Which makes sense given the surgical enhancements (biotechnology) that are apparent on Nihilanth are characteristic of the type of surgeries we have seen the Combine perform on humans (see similarity between Nihilanth and Stalkers).

It’s also pretty safe to assume that Nihilanth’s prime use for the Combine is for portal technology, given how Nihilanth can manipulate forces to transport armies and even parts of an envirnoment to another dimension.

The Combine and Nihilanth have not been explicitly connected through any in-game dialogue.

I’ve been hoping for Gman to refer to us an an “Interloper” right before entering the Combine homeworld.

Whats an interlooper?

https://www.thefreedictionary.com/interloper

Ah the magic of the internet.

Back to G-Man.

Hate to be the one to tell you this, but he won’t say that, because you won’t be going to the Combine homeworld. Also, I shot your dog.

You a knucklhead.

I believe that Gman is infact Gordon Freeman. However, The Gman is Gordon Freeman from the future. Here are my reasons:

  1. The Gman’s eyes are bright green, the same as Gordon’s.

  2. The G in Gman could stand for Gordon.

  3. The Gman never lets Gordon die. This would be because if he did, then the Gman would cease to exist.

This one is just for the jokes:

  1. Gordon never talks, probably because he has the same voice as the Gman. Who would want to talk like that anyway?

That is what I think anyway. I believe that it could be possible.

Valve alredy told us that we are playing as Doctor Freeman, and therefore we can’t see Gordon’s legs, or hear his voice. So, basically, whatever you say or comment while ingame is presented as something that Gordon would say :fffuuu:

Isnt that like the oldest theory in the world?

So Gordon might say “WTF!!! WHY WAS THERE A ZOMBIE THERE???”

Forgive me but I never knew about this theory. I just thought it up. It is possible though.

One way to think of Combine could be race that doesn’t really have any imagination or ability to create anything new themselves. They can only adapt and duplicate what they find in other species and their technology (possibly by tearing out what they know with the Advisors’ proboscis). So if they haven’t found any other races that have developed local portal tech, it might well be that they have to steal ours.

As to the G-Man, I agree with some people in this thread that he’s probably a representative of some race that we haven’t yet heard about, who oppose the Combine. I don’t like the idea of him being employed by the rebels or the Vortigaunts, as they seem too small to be worth his attention, although I do think the latter may have a fair amount of knowledge about what’s going on, possibly due to their connection with the Nihilanth, who may have played a part in his schemes.

I’m pretty sure Valve has denied it.

Some mysterious bastard that have 2 be killed bcuz of his secrets >.>
Gordon freeMAN = Gman

i think it’s far too late to introduce new races and new characters and bases , gman is most likely to be a normal human possesing incredible technology , prolly aperture based-technology , or an advanced human …

Yes, because Valve definitely thought it was too late to introduce Dr. Magnusson, White Forest, the Borealis, and Apeture Science all in one Episode. :freeman:

Gentlemen?

Anywayz…

My thoughts on G man.

He is not likely a human from earth.

He can control perception of time or at least Gordon Freeman’s perception of time.

He has some sort of contract governing Gordon Freeman which seems to be later awarded to the resistance. It appears to me (From what I have seen) that this contract awarding is above G Man’s control.

G Man is NOT Gordon Freeman or if he is then he is Gordon Freeman from a different time or dimension. But I still view this scenario is rather unlikely, seeing how G Man is seen by other people. I do nto rememebr tho specificalyl… if someoen can point out to me where Vance actualyl saw G Man? I know he refers to Our friend But that coudl be a number of other people… Maybe I jsut need context on that specific event.

His goals and Gordon Freemans goals do not always align. Meaning either Freeman Has some degree of Freedom or respite from control by G Man or that control is taken away (IE the resistance getting the contract for him.

One thing I would liek to see is how sightings of G Man and his actions at these times align with times when Gordon is known to be under G Man’s direct influence and when he is not or may not be under his influence… and how this all lines up. I suspect it will be telling.

Remember in half-life 2 that you travelled with the combine teleporter?
build by judith?
you arrived 1 week later…
I think you can call that time travelling,
I think the G-man used to work for the combine and discovered this too…

The G-man wanted to advance this time travelling but his boss thaught this was madness. He got fired and the G-man started to work for his own.
Soon he was able to master this time travelling and wanted to take revenge on the combine… :freeman:

My theory makes more sense than the two above me.

I’m still sticking with either …

Gman is god, or

Gman simply is.
