No worries, everyone has (should) be introduced to the Half-Life series at some point, there’s a rich science fiction story with many layers told and yet to be told through this series.
Back on topic though.

I’d like to think Gman is more vulnerable than he appears. Always with the mind games, as if he’s merely a figment of our imagination. I think it’s all a disruptive facade. Like the Wizard from Wizard of Oz.
As for his identity, I do not want to know. I only want to know what his mission is.
It can’t simply just be galactic dominance, since that is too simple a plot for Valve to throw at us. And if his mission really is dominance, then he wouldn’t use one man for the job.
PS. I’ve been waiting for a Kleiner/Gman converse for along time now. With Kleiner’s ever-increasing curiosity for science and tech along with Gman’s cold candor, it’d be a memorable moment.
They are one and the same - alternate or older but definitely from the same gene pool.
No, they are not, and most definitely not.
Never fear, Gordon, she’s de-beaked and completely harmless!
Not sure how that one is relevant, but alright.
G-man IS more vulnerable than he seems… like i said its just telepathy and telekinesis… he cant be stopped/ halted by the vorts, and he also mentions his “employers” wich lead me to belive theres a more powerfull… thing out there that can pretty much pwn G-man
Just because they can buy its services doesn’t necessarily mean they’re more powerful, it’s more likely they need to buy its services precisely because of the nature of G-Man’s powers.
Here, you must also consider that G-Man has agreed to certain restrictions in what he’s allowed to do, so it being -just- telepathy and telekinesis isn’t necessarily true either.
hmmm never thought of it like that… but still in order to “buy/employ” G-man they must be pretty powerfull, because what would you pay G-Man with other than more power or somthing… cookies???
Well, they don’t necessarily need to be more powerful, they just might have something the G-Man wants (and it must be pretty important if he’s willing to abide by certain restrictions in order to fulfill his contracts), and here we come back to what the G-Man’s motives could possibly be.
also brings me back to my point… what could he want other than something that could possibly give HIM more power… or cookies…
I didn’t know that was from a book because I don’t have it yet. I found that image on google :C
Why Not?
You have to admit the “Fight Club” type similarities with the G-Man appearances to Gordon. Gman guides Gordon, that’s because he is schizophrenic!
Other people have seen Gman. Get off the bandwagon.
What Bandwagon LOL, actually they have not only what Gordon perceives. Valve made the game minus cut scenes for a reason. This Gman concept would not work unless the player was playing as Gordon.
Eli has seen Gman. He mentioned how he was responsible for having the crystal sample that started the Cascade.
We’ve seen Gman arguing with a scientist in HL1.
Breen obviously knows about him, or at least about the deal between him and Gordon because he references Gordon’s so-called ‘contract’ between them when you encounter him in his office the second time.
Edit: whoops, that’s already been mentioned.
sry for being so noob but can somone repost a post or video of someone and give me a little more backround on the contract thing… all i know is that G-Man has “employers” and that he has “contracts” (metepohricaly/verbal/paper) with people on earth wich he must abide by… and the whole thing about the higest bidder… again sry

Well, the very first time G-Man mentions it’s “Employers” is at the end of H-L1. There is no specification that G-Man’s employers were on Earth, and it seems more likely that the employers are actually alien.
If you go back a page and watch the “Heart to Heart” speech G-Man gives, it could be interpreted that the Vortigaunts had hired G-Man (see where he begins making reference to Alyx).
I’m not sure how much stock I put into this at this point as the G-Man’s motives for saying this are dubious, it could more easily be that he’s attempting to incite mistrust in the Vortigaunts (who released Gordon from G-Man’s control) and Alyx.
There’s really isn’t much more background that can be given about the “Employers” or “Contracts” except for the fact that allegedly “Bidding” goes on for the G-Man and its Agents services.
He saved Adrian Shephard’s live. Twice. (That chopper that takes of without you will probably never make it).
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
