G-Man Speculations

In all honesty, I believe Gman is an alien, for starters. My reasoning for this would be his rough speech patterns and lack of rapid, loose movements. His eyes also seem…alien.

As for how he can move from place to place, I believe that he was, in fact, employed by the combine. Using nihilanth as teleportation, the combine hired Gman as their “middle man” and overseer of operations on BM. So Gman became “friends” with nihilanth, and used him as he uses Gordon. I think after Gordon survives the RC, Gman sees promise in him as a viable tool that his employers can use. I think he was purposefully hired by the combine so his real employers could control their race also.

He uses the combine to get to nihilanth and BM, then uses Gordon to do the meaty parts of his employers scheme, which I believe is probably galactic domination of a sort. I see Gman as being the final piece in finishing the HL story, as I think that if we learn all their is about him, we’ll have everything else in place.

G-Man is actually a disguised Dalek.

Makes sense to me.

I honestly think the G-Man is an alien (same reasons as 22one has), but mainly because he can stop time, teleport. And if he was a human being, I think he would stop the war.

Yes, that’s my theory too. Not the Dalek one, that was a joke.

I don’t think anyone really thinks that G-man’s actually a normal human. I certainly don’t.

Hmm, well if you take a look at G-man’s tie, you can clearly see that it’s a Borrelli.

The company was founded in 1957, in the same year the US tested their first underground nuclear bomb.

That bomb contained, as all nuclear weapons do, plutonium. Plutonium has the elemental number 94.

The solar system HD 82|94|3 contains that exact number. Therefore, the G-man obviously derived from that solar system, and is because of that, clearly an alien. //Thread Solved

I have two guesses as to who the G-Man really is:

1: An alien, representing some omnipotent alien force which has yet to reveal itself.

2: A representative of an organization of a high-technological secret human bureaucracy, like the Men in Black or the X-Men, who have dealt with the paranormal since the 50s.

Whatever the case, his employers seem to take an interest maintaing interdimensional control, and especially in individuals who are most useful in helping them bring about that control. His employers probably took interest in Black Mesa’s studies of Xen, and was sent first to deliver the Nihilinth crystal sample as a business transaction, then to argue with the Black Mesa staff against testing the sample through the high energy beam because of the cosmic repercussions it would cause. Why he dealt with them the crystal, and then warning them against using it, I am uncertain.

Contrary to what some believe, I don’t think he’s an agent for the Combine. He summoned Gordon specifically to destroy the power center of City 17 to cripple to Combine’s control. Why? Again, because his employers want to keep the Border World critters from messing things up interdimensionally. They found Gordon attractive, because he took out the Nihilinth who was causing the interdimensional rifts, and thereby brough Xen under his employers control. Why did they want it? Probably as as satellite base in the Border Worlds.

Who are the various parties who are vying for Gordon’s services? I know that Breen implies that he is aware that Gordon was employed, and suggests that the G-Man’s employers act more like an auction service agency concerned more with supplying agents to powerful bidders rather than maintaining stability. However, the unknown bidders may be other aliens who see Gordon as a means to clean up their own Combine problem. This leads to the question: if Gordon’s employer’s are only an auction agency, why then did they send him to disrupt the Combine? Could it be that his stunt in City 17 was merely a showcase by the G-Man and his employers to potential bidders?
Whoever Gordon was originally supposed to be sold to, the Vortigaunts now have repossessed Gordon, and the G-Man is forced to recognize their hold on him, either by the Vortigaunts, his employers, or both.

As you can see, the clues are getting more complicated as the game series progress. What’s clear at the moment is that the bureaucracy he represents had particular intentions for Gordon, and it is implied that Eli with the Vortigaunts’ help snatched him away too soon before the intended moment for Gordon’s use had arrived. Whether he had something to do with the assault on Eli by Combine Advisors, I’m not sure. It’s likely that the G-Man was aware that the Combine knew that Gordon was supposed to be tucked away for a very long time, and that Vance was responsible for keeping him awake in during his time period to mess things up even more for them. It seems like the G-Man didn’t interfere, because any interference on his part would have directed the Combine’s anger towards him and his organization, and also because he wanted to make his point to Gordon and others that Eli’s interference will render matters even more difficult for them.

For me, the G-Man’s character later on feels like a cross between J. Edgar Hoover, William Parcher who is another G-Man from John Nash’s hallucinations in a Beautiful Mind, and Moebius the Time Streamer from the Legacy of Kain series. He’s such an ominous and freaky guy, that I’m dying to see what part he’ll play in the next HL episode.

Well in the original HL Anomalous Material,if you hear closely, well… You can hear “Gowbown” or something, probably referencing Gordon. What the hell are they talking about…

I think it’s been long established that that conversation is mostly gibberish.

(In BM, though, the subtitles for it are hilarious)

Sup guys, just wanted to share an interesting thought with you

Has anyone else wondered about the bird in Portal 2?
I don’t really see why a crow would be nesting in a cave thousands of meters underground, secondly, if you pay attention, not only does the bird help you by placing GLaDOS where you can reach her. It also stalks you throughout the rest of the game (untill you get back to the new part of the facility).

This could make one ponder, does this bird have intentions with Chell? And here comes the juicy part! Guess where you see a bird totally identical to the one in Portal. you got it! It’s on Gman’s shoulder in a random broken television in Half-Life 2… Could it be possible, that since Gman is clearely not human he could take the form of anything, like a human or a crow?
I know this might just be random conspiracy out of thin air… but my epic-senses are tingling!

Interesting, very interesting indeed…

Yeah
Also, GLaDOS states that it is evil, and references to it as “him” :stuck_out_tongue:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3cSnfeQQA4

Well, it’s fairly normal in English to call a person of indeterminate gender “him”. And GLaDOS presumably calls it evil because it was eating her.

I like this theory, though. I’ve always wondered what the fuck was up with that TV sighting.

That is one of the best logical opinions about that game/story as many other theories! I agree!

It wouldn’t surprise me if that’s a valid connection

G-Man is a timelord.

He is Cable, uh.

Cable, uh?

Yeah, I definitely see the resemblance :retard:

Both are wearing a button up shirt. It’s a OBVIOUSLY the case here!
