A city struck by a nasty plague and ruled by an evil mastermind. How dishonorable.

I’m Not Complaining
Yes, finally the industry finally realized “wow, shooting arrows in Thief back in the day was fucking awesome, we should also do this.”
Plus the bow is really more of a multi-purpose tool then a weapon in Thief - if you are using it to shoot guys you are generally doing it wrong.
There’s a lot of joy in lining up the perfect arc to headshot dudes with arrows in Thief, but it’s usually followed by a reload, yes.
I found more joy in confusing them senseless with water arrows
I hope they take a look at the dark mod for some natural evolutions of where thief gameplay can go with modern tech.
I want to be able to shoot rope arrows into objects and pull them down, and be able to drop heavy objects on peoples heads to knock them out.
Also being able to swing on rope arrows would be nice too.
A big thing I’m kinda worried about is that there probably won’t be an editor - which was a huge reason the community was so dedicated to the old games. There have been tons of fan missions, and I’d like to see something like that possible in the new one.
Thanks for reminding me to check the Dark Mod for updates. I rest easy knowing that even if Thief 4 sucks, the Dark Mod is still there.
Listening to the soundtrack for Thief 1, It’s bloody brilliant. Probably one of the most atmospheric and opressive soundtracks that I’ve heard in a game. Some of them are just downright creepy. I hope they keep this style of ambient music for Thief 4.
I feel like you guys are deliberately trying to set your expectations as high as possible…
Nah I’m already worried about it thanks to the lack of a light gem, (or what people perceive to be the lack of one anyway)
They’re apparently doing some bullshit vignetting around the screen like in Dishonored rather than having a light gem.
I’m expecting a Human Revolution-style “spin” on Thief, rather than a proper sequel. I think if everyone gets into that headspace, we’ll all be a lot less disappointed. There’s really no way it will live up to the promise of the first two games. I’m not even sure how a game possibly could in this era. There are too many expectations of polish and craft that don’t jibe with the messy simulated way the Thief games work.
For instance, we all love the Dark Mod, but can you imagine the reaction if that were released as a full-budget retail game? The good news here is that Thief 4 will probably be a really good stealth game. It’ll be fun and well made. It just won’t be Thief.
i wanna play a thieving game where all the shit you steal goes into a swag sack that gets bigger and more unwieldy as it fills up & impedes your sneaking
RPS had an article about it. They felt that his voice was too “old” or whatever for the character they have. They did show interest in using him apparently too, brought him in for rehearsals and stuff.
Apparently Garrett’s so fragile he can only handle four guards at once in this new series entry
Don’t expect anything good from reboots nowadays.
“Leave no trace behind” ninja flips over a guard’s sword and busts through a window while throwing a bomb at his feet.
It’s like stealth can’t be a thing without a few people dying these days. -____-
