I’m not arguing that he should be in jail but 50 years is an injustice. 10 years at most is what he deserves, specially when compared to the murderers who get a few more years than that.

It’s not going to happen. It is stupid that that kind of draconian sentence is even technically on the table, but NOBODY has ever gotten anything close to that for piracy. The closest I can think of is the Wolverine leaker who got one year (and I doubt he’ll even serve it out).
Just to take a different note, the guy who supposedly murdered 24 people actually didn’t. His squad took fire from several houses containing insurgents hiding amongst civilians. The only response was to fight back. Such is war.
Also, the rapist/murderer was sentenced in Spain, not the U.S.
Europe generally has much lower sentences for violent criminals. Hell, the guy from Emperor who killed someone for no reason only got like 5 years.
There isn’t a single reliable source that states Kim was convicted .
The absolute most he can get for his “crime(s)” is something like 20 years.
I am baffled by the USA once again, as they are able to arrest a person of Finnish and German nationality in New Zealand.
They even sent police helicopters directly into his backyard. Like he’s an ex russian spetsnaz or something.
If you find a reliable source stating that Kim can get 50 years please enlighten me, I did a lot of research on this matter.
They sent choppers to his house? What the fuck, did they think he’s like some sort of terrorist, with a huge heavy armory and an army of terrorist grunts?
That’s not only sad, since they must’ve scared and humiliated him, but that’s also wasteful on the USA Government’s part, I mean, you use a fucking chopper for a CONFLICT, or an EMERGENCY, not for something like this.
Now I really feel bad for him, extremely, I mean, it’s not like Kim is Al-Qaeda.

Actually, the squad got hit by an IED, then the squad proceeded to order a driver and four students out of a taxi, shoot them, then go into three houses after chucking frags in, and shot many of the victims from those houses execution-style. They did report small arms fire, but the only weapon recovered from the aftermath was an unfired AK-47, which leads me to beleive they did that to cover their tracks. Also, I highly doubt the seniors and children under 10 (of which seven were wounded, and only two survived) were insurgents. [1]

Christfuck, how many times does this need to be explained? The guy allegedly “committed” “crimes” against the US, so the US had him extradited for prosecution back on their home soil, because we have an extradition treaty with New Zealand.
It’s the same goddamned thing that would happen if you committed a murder in, I don’t know, the UK, and then fled to Spain. This is not a case of the United States playing World Police.
