Another fact: Grigori Perelman, a Russian mathematician who proved the one-hundred-year-old Poincaré Conjecture rejected to receive the Fields Medal (the highest award in mathematics, since there is no Nobel Prize in this area) and now is also refusing to receive a one million dollars prize (the “Millennium” mathematics prize) awarded by Clay Mathematics Institute in Cambridge, MA.

I think its implications are wider than just religion, it’s about culture in general. Any kind of discrimination, for instance. People sticking to their beliefs, avoiding to think about them or try out different things, this is almost a cliché, you see everywhere.

By the way, I already heard that story before.
