Looks like a form of Russian salute… one I actually carry out when I see roadkill, to acknowledge the loss and sacrifice of these animals for a convenient form of transportation.
It’s much easier (a.k.a. safer) to do in the car that than the typical brow-height salute, and you don’t stand out while doing it since it looks like you’re reaching for your seatbelt. Also, a salute from the heart feels better than a salute from the head… it’s a better sign of sympathy than indicating the human brain, which caused all those nightly road-casualties in the first place.

Prior to the experiment, he had been unable to convince his students that something like the Third Reich could ever function again. He proved his point by converting them into Nazis via this experiment, and then revealing to them what they had become. He actually had to stop the experiment prematurely, because things were starting to get out of hand. The kids had already formed something very similar to the SA or SS and were constantly harrassing and even endangering other students who wouldn’t join the movement.

Not to be mean Eyes, but a couple of the posts above yours there were discussions about how “the wave” was supposed to show how the nazis all conformed to something crazy.
And yet I posted in a rather humorous way that conformity is not just seen in the schools and it is not always in such a ‘crazy’ manner.
