yeah but this is a film not a game, a silent character wont work in a film if all the ppl that he meets try to talk to him. Look at dead space 2, even they added voice to the main character since they want to make the game more story driven and have a character develop over time, you cant really get that with mute gordon.

If they add voice to gordon in half life 3 i would be like wtf, but in a movie it is a must ;f

Silent characters can be done fairly easily in movies of the character is a side character (“Dirty Ezio” in Robin Hood: Men in Tights?), but is harder to do if the character is the main character.

I’ve only seen a silent main character done in a movie once so far: Disney’s Dumbo.

It can be done, but, like in Dumbo, there needs to be an “escort” character to do the speaking. Maybe Barney in HL1 and Alyx in HL2?

At the end of the movie or at the end of the Half Life games (horror!), Gordon stands up, brushes himself off and…says, “I could really use a beer.”

EDIT: Also, silent movie characters don’t count if everyone else is speaking. Charlie Chaplin would later go on to do “talkies”, though.
