Don’t patronize me you fuck. Adaptation is a gradual change that gives a species a survival advantage. The premise of evolution, if I understand it correctly, is that adaptation will eventually lead to such drastic changes that two individuals adapted differently can no longer breed, therefore a new species is created. My point isn’t that this can’t happen, it’s that divergent skin color is not an example of evolution - it’s an example of adaptation. Adaptation can lead to evolution, or not. In the case of skin color it’s extremely unlikely that any changes could be so drastic as to prevent interbreeding between races.

yep, weren’t we just talking about honesty? the first step is being honest with yourself, I guess. and then you can work on being honest with other people. i know it doesn’t seem like a big deal, but you’ll find you develop far better interpersonal relationships when you learn to be honest and say how you really feel.

Well, I would try and take the other side for fun, but really… It is too painful.
The one that is always interesting is the whole “Well… there is no added information that can be introduced into the code that is viable”… But that is an old debate as well. When you ask someone taking that position to define “infomation” that is when the whole thing generally falls apart right before their eyes.

They also can’t seem to define the term “kind” which they, evidently, lifted directly from the Bible.
I once got into an argument with a creationist and he finally defined what “kind” meant. He said, “Rats can only come from rats.” I thanked him, then asked him to define “rat”. I asked him if a “kangaroo rat” was a “rat” and he wouldn’t answer. I asked him if a “mole rat” was a “rat”, he wouldn’t answer. I asked him if a “maned rat” was a “rat” and he wouldn’t tell me.
The conversation kind of petered out at that point. I was disappointed because it was going so well up to that point.

Yes, as you say, define kind - The evidence is amazingly clear, but as you know, when a person wants to see things a certain way, they simply do. I know I have been caught with that a few times - I try to avoid it now that I know better, yet we all have our biases.
I find the whole genetic thing confusing to some degree, but captivating just the same. The liger apperently gets so big, because the gene that stops growth is switch off (I think it is - not sure) and so, these things tend to get rather large… Just makes you wonder if kitty ever decided to munch his/her handler…

Does anyone happen to remember the name of the fellow who did the research on random mutations mentioned in “The Greatest Show on Earth” by Dawkins?
The experiment concerned baterium that were bred in a sucrose rich enviroment, that after 33,000 generations, a random A mutation (as it was called in the book) worked in conjunction with random mutation B (55,000 generations later) so that they could also use some other potential food source that was in the dish?
(The interesting thing was, that the bacterium could not use the other stuff, until BOTH random mutations had happened. - and the other test groups - 11 if I recall) showed NO random mutations at all)
I will be coming to it in a while, as I am going over the audio book again, but wanted to see if I could find it online…
