There are some that believe that “evil” is merely the “absence of God” like “cold” is the “absence of heat” or “dark” is the “absence of light”.
The problem I have with that is that there are MANY hundreds of instances in the Bible where God commits acts that, if a human being were to do it, would be looked upon as evil or wrong by the VAST majority of the population. Such as genocide (Genesis 6 and 7). Such as impregnation of a very young[/SIZE] woman that was engaged to someone else (Luke 1 and 2). And many other instances…
I don’t believe that religious people are idiots, I believe they are unable to properly apply logic and reason to the origin of everything due to emotion or upbringing.
God does fit into the puzzle, but that doesn’t mean it’s right. Man designed religion to fit into the puzzle; science is what actually fits into the puzzle.
Something I’d like to ask; what makes your religion different from the thousands of others? What makes your religion the best and right? Because you believe in it? Why are you better than a Bhuddist? Why are you more right than a Christian? What makes you correct and a Catholic wrong?
“God created the world and used evolution to do it.”
:retard:
Religious faith and science are not mutually incompatible. However, science does have one thing going for it: They don’t tell you that you’re going to suffer eternally if you don’t believe them.
They’re about as compatible as Yahtzee is to theoretical physics.
Religion doesn’t explain anything. Why? They don’t use the scientific method to come to their conclusions. They start with a hypothesis and end it there. They don’t believe that any sort of test can be made to prove their ideas; because questioning god is bad. They just use logical (and I use that word lightly) leaps to come to a conclusion.
Well, you can if you’re one of those religion scientists that believes in being unbias. There are plenty of them, and often times their research contradicts religious ideas.
Yes you can. You can accept scientific theories and facts as true, while still having faith in things that don’t contradict what those theories and facts say.
I don’t, but you could.
Of course, large portions of many religions are contradicted by science, which is probably why a lot of people pick and choose what exactly they want to have faith in.
If I missed anyone’s objections let me know.
Read the responses you want, you dont have to read it all.
A Christian defines evil as that which goes against God’s will, for example disobeying his decrees and commands. So you’re right. If a human were to to do this it would be wrong, but God had a morally sufficient reason to do so, and thus it is not evil.
I AM A CHRISTIAN. Lets just make that clear right now. Catholics (well most) are Christians as well. And here’s one crucial difference that separates us from everyone else. Everyone is sinful. I’ve sinned everyone has sinned. We’ve all done something wrong. Other religions believe in a salvation by works. If I do more good than bad, Im saved. If I am a good person, then Im okay. Buddhism adds in reincarnation wherein each life you have a new chance to reach enlightenment. Its up to you to save yourself though, its all about man’s actions.
Christianity is different from every other religion. There’s no amount of good works you can do to become saved. There’s no way you can save yourself. It doesnt matter how good you are, you’ve disobeyed God’s commands and that punishment is death. No ifs ands or buts.
So how does anyone become saved? By faith in Christ. This is why Christ had to die, to pay the punishment for sins! Only through faith in Christ can anyone be saved.
So somehow spiritual creation is unscientific?
Do I believe the Big Bang happened? Of course. Thats completely valid science. But how did it happen? Because God caused it to happen.
Creation is very scientific. I’ll be brief here. A theory is valid if it is known to produce the effect in question. DNA holds information. Like a book, or a newspaper, or code, or instructions. Information. Chance doesnt form information. Intelligent design is the only cause we know that is known to produce information.
I gave you books worth of research in a paragraph. I know its got some jumps there.
Youve never heard a rational argument for Gods existence? Youve never heard of anyone using scientific evidenece to point to a Creator? I bet you’ve heard of terms like ‘Irreducible Complexity’. All those are scientific arguments for God, Scientific Method all the way through.
Faith doesnt mean you belive something without any basis for it. A Christian faith is very well reasoned and logical.
Agree with you. And one picks and chooses for themselves what they are going to believe, their ultimate source of truth is themselves.
