Episode 3 Discussion and Information.

It’s got nothing to do with being alien or human or what technology they have, but game difficulty. Half-Life 2 was loads easier than Half-Life.

HL2 EP3 is gonna be released with a NEW Source Engine (no joke) And it WILL be take place in artic conditions, Possibly in North or South pole.

sources?

he’s gordon freeman, he doesn’t need sources :awesome:

I think it goes without saying that it’ll be running on an upgraded source engine… I mean, you can’t really expect them to just stay with the 2007 version forever :stuck_out_tongue:

Valve updates their Source Engine for EP3:

Detaillevel of a Vort how it could be in EP3: click me again

Also, a “whole” new Source Engine will probably come 2012. When the new console generation is coming. It doesn’t make sense to release a new Engine, when 1,2 years later a complete new graphics generation is coming. If you know what I mean.

I was just playing through HL2 and the episodes because of the update, and I noticed something odd about the end of Episode 2. When Eli says that he wants to go rescue Judith, Dr. Kleiner insists that he stay, because if he were to be captured the Combine could destroy the resistance with all of Eli’s knowledge. However, when the Advisors find you in the hangar, they kill him almost immediately. If he was really so valuable, why did the Advisors kill him?

If you go back and watch that scene again, when they talk about rescuing Judith Eli says “But if the combine catch here they’ll tear out everything she knows, there will be nothing left of her.” A popular theory is that this is literal. Much like the brain bug from starship troopers, an advisor might be able to eat someone’s brain to gain their knowledge.

Valve spreader out this E-Mail:

[color=Navy]Dear Subject Name Here,

Aperture Science is pleased to inform you that we have partnered with Valve to announce the gala CANCELLATION of the June 14 Portal 2 event at the Regal Theater. The event will be replaced by a surprise. And even though the cancellation of the event certainly counts as a surprise, we are pleased to further announce that the cancellation of the event is not THE surprise. However, per International treaties regarding the definition of the word "surprise", of which both Aperture Science and Valve are signatories, the time, date and content of the actual surprise will only become available as you experience the surprise. [color=Navy]

If you'd like to ask fruitless questions about the E3 Portal 2 surprise or, more fruitfully, schedule an appointment to attend a Portal 2 screening at the Valve booth during E3, please contact Valve's Special Envoy to Surprises, Doug Lombardi. [color=Navy]

Thank you for <> [color=Navy]

PS: The surprising record scratch is also not the surprise.

That idea had crossed my mind after I posted. If it’s true then that Advisor got away with everything Eli knows, unless Dog interrupted it before it finished. Looks like ep3 will be an epic race against time.

…SERIOUSLY ?!

No !
The first image is the MODEL version of the Vortigaunt.
The second one is the HD MODEL used for making BUMPMAPS for the first one !

Stop saying bullshit…

Especially considering that some of the concept art shows combine architecture on the Borealis. So at the very least they get to it first.

I don’t know what difficulty you’re playing on, but it definitely ain’t hard.

good point, but you forgot about one thing, new generation of consols wont come untill 2014-2015
they are just introducking natal and move, and ps3 stilll didnt make cash for sony, this generation will be the longest in history of consols
so meybe they will go with new engine for ep 3

Well… as you said they are just introducing the motion sensing devices. Depending on how they perform and if they can hold up (something the wii wasn’t able to do so game-wise) this generation will extend its life or not. If this peripherals don’t have the success that M$ and Sony hoped I expect to see a new generation by x-mas 2012.
… :fffuuu:
NATAL AND MOVE FTW!!!

Whoops, ep3 delayed by a year.

^Rofl wtf?!?

More than an upgrade of the sauce engine, I’m looking forward to them fixing everything wrong with the current one. (Anyone involved in modding can tell you more):meh:

Yeah, right.

except one problem with that is, why would valve use those crappy motion thingies anyways? That would be so gay if you had to swipe your hand up to reload, then cock it.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
