EP2 Vort

Does anyone know how to get the vorts in HL2 to look like the vorts in EP2?

Interesting idea. The phong shading won’t work, but I’m gonna snoop around the gcfs to see what I can find out.

Yeah that would be great, I love the smooth slimy look. So much better than HL2’s dry and wrinkly.

What?! There are way more Vorts in HL2 than in both Episode 1 and Episode 2…

The ep2 vorts are the same as the hl2 vorts but the ep2 ones have a phong applied to them. The standard hl2 engine cant support phongs, only the ep1 engine (somewhat) and ep2 engine.

how come the HEV gloves are reflective like the EP2 vort then? Also there is a different texture and model for the EP2 vorts aside from the phong shading. I put the EP2 Vort models and textures(I found the textures in the source 2007 materials.GFC) and it didn’t have the phong shading and the eyes showed up wire framed.

HEV gloves have reflective maps, not PHong shading.

In the Xbox 360 version of the OB, all of the vorts use the Ep2 model.

I myself am wondering how I would go about finding everything to convert the new ones into the old ones, so they’re more rusty lookin’.

So how would one go about creating a reflective map for the Vorts that would make them similarly reflective? I think your situation is easier to fix, due to there not being engine limitations for the effects of the HL2 vorts. I haven’t tried it but if you took the vort models(minus the animations) and textures out of the half-life 2 gfc’s and placed them in the appropriate folders for ep1 and ep2 I believe that would work.

HL2 is ported to the Source Engine 2(Orange Box Engine) - look at the top right of the screen with the dev console open, and it should display the same version as Ep.1 and Ep.2.

Sorry if this is incorrect, it’s from the Dev Wiki and HL2 forums, and I’m not very Source-savy :wink:

EDIT: Too confusing want simpler; HL2 was ported to the Ep.1 engine, and later the Ep.2 engine(same with Ep.1) supposedly.

I think it would be more worth the effort to port the Half Life 2 vorts into Episode 2. The slug-slime-covered babyskinned vorts just threw me the hell off.

Didn’t FakeFactory convert HL2 tro the ep2 engine? If he did, you could install that and remove all of the shit except the vorigaunt.
