Ep1 != EP 2 ?

so what i am about here… just look at this picture:

in ep 1 we are in the last wagon, with citadel in front of us and when we are about to escape the damn wave of some portal shit we get hit by it. in ep 2 we begin in (still last?) wagon and see that citadel is behind us instead of front? so what the hell?

Actually the bridge was parallel to the the city, not directly in front of it.

And during the train escape at the end of Ep1, we make a few turns.

dude, didn’t you see where the train actually was? It was nowhere NEAR the traintracks, so it didn’t just fall off to the side, it was completely lifted off the tracks by the explosion, appartently either spinning it around, or possibly blasting you back through all the cars in the train.

i doubt it… there was 1 wagon off the trail. others were on the bridge(or whatever was left of it) and i don’t think that it is possible for portal storm to lift train and put it back on trail as if nothing has hppened

hmm… maybe i am blind (?!) but i didn’t see any turns

Even if they fucked it up, who cares? The game is still great.

Holy shit, someone has a brain here and is not a nit-picking douche! <3 :stuck_out_tongue:

Agreed good sir, agreed.

^ this (although I am a bit surprised of valve fucking that up. quite funny actually…)

Valve does shit like that all the time. Besides maybe they moved to the front train in the time between games?

Uhm… train tracks CAN make turns, you know? Who says they fucked that up? There are a thousand ways the train could have ended up in that position.

i dont mean game is bad…

yes they can but i didn’t see any before portal wave hit. and you? do you think after the wave hit the train went 50 km more and fell down the bridge cos it was broken? i doubt it because after wave hit the train got pushed forward and because force was too big the tension broke the bridge rails before train was crossing it! i understand that but how citadel flew behind us? and why was it on the right side from riles when when we were leaving it was on right/front of us?

I thought that was a different train, possibly even on a completely different track. Essentially your train got lifted off of the tracks and dropped down where it ended up in Ep2 as the force of the blast petered out. If the force of the blast lowered enough to drop the train that Freeman and Alyx were in, then it also wouldn’t have had enough force to pick the train up that was on the tracks nearby, but it would have enough to do some damage to the tracks, eventually destroying it when the portal storms started running through.

Retcon much?

Well, technically, yes. Just look at how far you are away from city 17 when the wave hits at the end of episode 1, and how far the city is away when you first experience a “portal storm” at the beginning of Episode 2.

Even if the laws of physics don’t apply here, we still know that in the game, the train is hit by an energy wave from a source that is deemed capable of creating interdimensional portals and displacing large amounts of matter. So there is at least an in-game explanation for the displacement of the train.

Well, it wouldn’t suprise me if portal storms are that powerfull. Imagine hurricane Katrina, except much larger and having shock waves. Not to mention the large explosion that probably had the size of a nuclear blast.

Admit it, valve screwed up the placement of the train, the placement of your self and the placement of the citidel.

ep1 the citidel is directly behind you and it is not that far away.
ep2 the citidel is off to your left and it is way WAY far away.

Personally, I am disappointed we didnt get an Alyx dangling from the bridge thing. But that is just me.

Thing is, it still looked awesome and it doesnt matter.

In the end of Episode 1, you are blinded by the citadels explosion. So you can’t really figure out, when the train came to a complete halt.

sure you can. It comes to a complete halt against the side of a rocky outcropping that the train is propped up on in EP2.

I meant you can’t say how long the train was still driving on that rail after the blast.

Pleas explain to me what makes it funny.

the chance that train which is lifted by “PS” will fly in the air without hitting any tree around him and and will be PUT on trail without being smashed is less than 0.1%(i think that even this is too much)
