Gearbox could be a good pick for a studio. Borderlands was fun, and the Brothers in Arms games were excellent tactical shooters. (The latter were pretty damn hard though.)

Hopefully, If Gearbox includes Multiplayer Mode, they don’t fuck it up. In the last thirteen years, Multiplayer has evolved incredibly. Hell, Back in 1997, there was Deathmatch and I think that was it. Nowadays we have Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Turf war (also known as Capture point), King of the Hill, Co-Op, Co-Op Versus (Left 4 Dead’s Vs mode), and that’s just counting the ones I can think of from Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead, and Unreal Tournament.
I laugh at people who think someone has been working on DNF all these years.

besides the 3D Realms games are overrated. sure they are comical but that’s it.
This game has big expectations given 10+ years of development. And I would be willing to bet that it fails those expectations with its shaky history. Then again, it does remind me of Team Fortress 2,which tunred out to be good, despite all the junk they threw into it.
Also Halo really came out in 2001? It has very good graphics for barely two years after Half Life. (Atleast from memory it does, haven’t played it in a long time.)

Its not really duke nukem unless its developed by the 3drealms team. Whatever duke we do get will probably be some poor imitation. I dont think DNF it will be as mature as duke3d. No harsh one liners, no babes to rescue, etc.

I have faith in Gearbox. I have yet to dislike any of their endeavors, with Borderlands being one of my favorite multiplayer games ever.
I just wish they would finish Aliens: Colonial Marines

Uhh, there was a lot more then just deathmatch in 97. There were more coop games back in the 90s then there are now, and most of those modes were created in the 90s anyway, through games, or many actually, came from easy to mod games, namely quake through a ton of different mods.
Anyways, back on topic. Duke 3d was awesome but i couldn’t care less about DNF anymore. I would rather see Gearbox finish Colonial Marines first, a game I’m actually looking forward to.
There is the chance that Gearbox could completely screw it up and release a generic FPS with the duke name slapped on. Honestly, I would be content with a complete update of the original Duke3D. How many of today’s gamers have ACTUALLY played Duke Nukem 3D? I would bet not a whole lot, so it wouldn’t really be a remake for many. Hell, i havent even played it in at least 10 years. Simply update Duke3d in a realistic style (think STALKER-like graphics). IMO, the footage from that leaked video looks too colorful and cartoony for my tastes. Duke is supposed to be a mature, GRITTY game about alien invasion, with some light humor and sex thrown in for fun. At least the harsh language and original arsenal appear intact.
Im just playing the pessimist. I have such love for the original Duke3D (got it for christmas the year it was released, i was in the 6th grade 
), I do not want some castrated, childish version ~15 years later. I do have faith in gearbox however, so lets hope for the best. Only time will tell though.

I know Duke3d, apparently better than you do. Go play it and tell me how Im wrong. That game is gritty and mature (it has an adult content lockout btw) and not supposed to be cartoony, 3DRealms was striving for realism (as much as '96 tech would allow, thats the only reason why Duke3D MAY APPEAR cartoony). You do not know what you are talking about.

Because most of us are butthurt about their HL expansions that didn’t meet the expectations set by the original. Gearbox is a fine developer in truth.
