Double Fine Adventures

I don’t know how old news this is, but I couldn’t find it in here! Tim Shafer (Psychonauts, Grim Fandango, Day of the Tentacle) and Ron Gilbert (Monkey Island) are working on a new adventure game, but can’t get a publisher to fund it, so they got the fans to do it instead!

Kickstarter project

Within 8 hours they reached their target, and they’re now three times over with a month left! You can still donate of course, and $15 for a pre-order, beta access, video series of them making the game, and private forum access doesn’t seem bad to me. I know there are a few Psychonauts fans on these forums so thought some out there might like to know.

Yeah, I dropped a hundred. Figured it was worth it for all the perks you get.

Same as above. Felt that having another classic Shafer game come to fruition was worth $100 to me.
Plus I get a sweet poster

Grim Fandango is still my favourite Adventure game of all time, will be getting this for sure.

Bout time someone posted this thread! But yeah, this is really amazing news. Quite inspiring to see developers actually care about what their customers want rather than pumping out uncreative, unrisky money making games like everyone else. Psychonauts was probably one of the most original and creative games I’ve played, and I think it truly deserves a sequel.

Damn it Tim Shafer. Shut up and take my money.
Also Full Throttle is the best thing.

Huh. I’m a big fan of both of them’s works, looks interesting. I wish I could chip in, but I don’t even have a bloody credit card to do it -.-

(Also, I noticed you can choose to give them 10,000 bucks, who the hell can afford to do that?)

Well, someone clearly has given them $10000, so somebody must be able to afford it! That’s not even the top bracket, on doublefine.com they list the rewards for even bigger donations, including a whopping $50000 to become a character within the game!

Quick bump.

This thing ends on Tuesday, so if you guys want sweet, sweet swag, and haven’t pledged yet, this is your last chance.

Yah they’ve added more loot. Getting an awesome box and a t-shirt now at no extra cost.

Yeah, I was in for $30, but the box (actual cardboard!) and t-shirt made me pledge something extra.

btw, Tim Schafer is awesome: https://www.gamesradar.com/damning-pics-reveal-tim-schafer-has-made-fools-us-all/

It’s good for him he has all that money laying around, since they haven’t charged us yet :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, it’s happened! Even with kickstarter’s fees they managed to get $3M out of it! Can’t wait for the forums to set up, although I imagine they’ll get swamped instantaneously given how many people are that excited about it.

I chipped in thirty as well. All hail Tim Schafer!

I have no money. But I pledge abstinence for Tim.

:awesome:

I guess we’ll make this the Kickstarter thread.

Former Rainbow Six/ Ghost Recon dev wants to crowdsource an old-school tactical shooter.

Liked Wasteland?

inXile is putting money together to make Wasteland 2.

I’ll probably back this one, too.
