(this implies some form of multiplayer much to my chagrin)

NOTICE THE CONSTANT USE OF “EP3” AND NOT HL3.

Valve might also be making a game abbreviated SOB that involves space flight.

npc_blob + Borealis = The Thing

Pretty much. If only there was an NPC_Husky to compliment it

src/game/server/ep3/npc_composite_companion.cpp

mmh…
:fffuuu:

also
/src/game/server/ep3/weapon_flechettegun.cpp

right from a hunter’s dead body :freeman:

PC Gamer: Last time I was at your old office, on the whiteboard there was a pros and cons analysis of another weapon versus the Gravity Gun – something called the Weaponiser. Was that an Episode Three thing?

They lied! :aah: (I’m not even slightly surprised!)

I don’t look forward to a Half-Life game including anything called a fucking ‘ice gun’, pipe-bomb launcher, or flamethrower (most unnecessary weapon ever for a game like HL, imo)

HL2 didn’t go overboard with the weapons like HL1, so what the shit? I hope it’s an experiment…

Also, if HL3 retcons the gauss gun and egon gun, BM might remodel…

It’s still entirely possible it is an internal design experiment. Putting it in-game to see what’s fuck, nothing major. Gaben wouldn’t pull that lie out his ass mid-interview.

Half-life only had 3 more weapons that Half-Life 2, which is not nearly as dramatic as you make it seem. You’re just looking for things to be mad about.

Not to mention that they all seem like very different weapons, not like having a boring assortment of barely different pistols, rifles & smgs like most games do.

A flamethrower might be an unnecessary weapon in Black mesa or City 17, but when in the arctic, it sounds just as useful as a defrosting tool as it would a weapon.

Quantity doesn’t matter so much, just ridiculousness and plausibility. HL2 had a solid assortment of guns, inventive thinking could get you through anything. HL1 had Gordon throwing snarks and shooting a proton pak for chissakes.

No, i’m not complaining, just expressing a concern. A light concern at that, since Valve is generally cool.

Lovely how you shoot down your initial rant in the very same post.

i am not a confident man ;__;

Sounds to me like you have some mixed feelings. Some of it could be new, some of it could be simply experimentation, some could be replacement weapons. I’m happy with any combination of the three & I couldn’t care if they do add eight more weapons, just as long as they don’t add some weapon-swap system & limit the amount you can carry.

Sounds like complaining to me. I’d know, I do it a lot.

Why would i complain about something that hasn’t even effected my life in any way as of yet?

We should stop…

:fffuuu:	:fffuuu:	:fffuuu:	:fffuuu:	:fffuuu:	:fffuuu:

The flamethrower and ice gun seem more like tools than weapons. Like the Gravity Gun, it’s usually just a tool you use, but can be a weapon. Like there’s gonna be some ice puzzles you have to deal with where if you fuck up and flamethrow on the wrong thing you can just re-ice it. But you can still use them as weapons. It’d be sweet to burn or freeze some Combine soldiers. Aperture Science seems like the type of company to design ice guns. :stuck_out_tongue:

The Gauss Gun is coming back!?

OH GOD PLEASE YES!

Really? You care more about bringing back a weapon you’ve used a million times before over the new weapons?

HL2 had weapon_gauss.h, which was used for the dune buggy, so don’t get your hopes up because it might just be code left over from HL: S.

What was awesome about the Gauss Gun… was it’s basically the result of someone trying to weaponize a feature on CRTs. You just know it’s true. The sounds it makes, the windup nature? That’s divine inspiration for a weapon, right there.

actually I think you could use a CRT monitor as a shield vs the gauss gun, just press degauss!

I sure wouldn’t want to be the guy who would be in charge of changing every instance of “ep3” to “hl3” in the game files.

Whoo! Speculation time!

Wait… /ep3/weapon_teleport.cpp? As in the teleporter gun from Opposing Force? Or something new?

All seriousness aside, I think Valve won’t release episode 3 but instead send out small chunks of content over a large period of time until someone can piece together a full game.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
