Doom on ZuneHD!

“OpenZDK” was recently released on zuneboards.com. This is a Zune hack that, among other things, allows for custom-made 3d apps, multiplayer apps, and makes it so you don’t have to restart the Zune after closing a custom app. This opens the way to lots of 3d game ports like Doom and I believe also makes it possible for gameboy emulators to be ported to Zune:jizz:. The first big app to be released using this is Doom. It is just the freeware version so it isn’t the entire game, but I think there is a way to buy and play the full version on Zune.

Here is an article about it: Zuneboards OpenZDK

Here are some threads including an installation tutorial and Doom download.

Yah, I’ve been following this. Cant wait for some developers to get there hands on this. I just still cant figure out why Microsoft locked down the Zune so much.

Because it’s what all the cool kids do?

I’ll be honest, i don’t know what a ZuneHD is

It’s Microsoft’s option for the kids that hate the iPod because it’s popular.

And it has more features. And is cheaper in the US than an iPod.
Some are ugly as hell though…

And still they flopped.

This site for example declares Micorosft the grand winner on anything but app support: https://www.digitaltrends.com/guides/microsoft-zune-hd-vs-apple-ipod-touch/

But they pull a good conclusion when they say

But anyway, this was already covered in some thread in Massdebate. This is about Doom voor ZuneHD and how it’s 3 years behind on the iPhone/iPod at that.

So; Welcome to 2007, MSfags (oh how I wanted to say that after the Steam-to-Mac-debacle).

I just don’t understand why it’s always an either-or thing with Apple and Microsoft. Neither platform has a “monopoly” on anything any more. Macs can play games, PCs can do Photoshop and Illustrator, and other software that used to be “Mac centric”. Yes, Apple products tend to be expensive. They also tend to be more reliable over the the life of the product, in a general sense. Microsoft products can also be reliable. Their hardware products are usually ok, and, while their OS products do need constant patching, they are pretty much compatible with any type of hardware you can drop in a machine. They even work on Mac hardware, with Apples blessing.

I mean, can’t we all agree to get along? Can’t we agree that, people have a choice, and choice is good?

Can’t we agree to all hate the Linux fanbois?

I used to play doom on my first gen nano 4 years ago, back when this kind of stuff was cool.

WOW! cause this hasnt been done before? right?

Being made on XNA, a framework that basically ports very easily between PC, 360, and Zune. It was also used to make this Steam indie:

My droid can play ps1 games.

Welcome to 2005.

It could play (some) PS1 games, too.

Welcome to 1994

It could play PS1 games too.

You couldn’t fit it into your pocket all that easily, though.

:retard:
