“Dishonored II will have a “full reveal” at this year’s E3.”
Could be a fake but not a surprise if true.
Haven’t finished the first one yet, but I did Bioshock Infinite and liked it. Weird, considering plenty of people say Dishonored > Bioshock Infinite… the former just somehow didn’t stick to me… Dunno, first impression does wonders I guess and it wasn’t the best. The Fallout feel killed it for me, I hate those games.
Fallout feel?
What does that even mean?
Critically acclaimed and commercially successful game revealed to have a sequel? I don’t believe it.
I’ve never even heard people compare Bioshock and Dishonored. that’s confusing if they did because Dishonored is primarily a stealth game with some rpg elements and the other is action game with incredibly light RPG elements.
I never got a chance to play the first one tbh, I don’t know why I just don’t.
Pretty exciting. Some things they need to fix or work on though is toning blink down in some way, implementing more non-lethal powers, and ideally making each “level” one large thing rather than splitting it up with 3-4 load screens.
I’ve heard that the DLC is better than the main game but I haven’t played it. Should get around to that.
Agreeing with all this.
Most of the powers I didn’t like. Blink was the most enjoyable, and TBH you could probably just run through the entire game with only blink and dark vision anyway since they were pretty OP.
If it’s true, I’m excited. I absolutely loved Dishonored. It was one of those games where I was like “oh this looks/sounds kinda overhyped”, and really delivered and was an enjoyable experience.
Too many RPG elements for a shooter, more than I can tolerate. NPC selling stuff, items to loot everywhere, too wide environments and so on. I simply get overwhelmed and lost when I’m presented with too many options and when there’s a need to press a button to pick something up every 2 steps. Well, Bioshock has that too, but yeah, thanks to story, characters and shit it can be overlooked. Oh and I also don’t like stealth in shooters.
Lots of abandoned, wrecked buildings containing sparse loot?
Wait, wait, wait, but you also hate Call of Duty?
Deus Ex or - God beware! - System Shock 2 must be a pain in the ass for you then (regaining health, going over weapons to pick ammo up ? paah, weapons that wear off and a sniper reticle that wobbles if you don’t have upgraded your Weapons skill were THE thing back in the days when games were games and not downgraded to interactive hollywood movies )
forgive my little rant, but that’s my opinion
b2t:
sounds exciting, I really enjoyed Dishonored, however I agree on the unbalanced powers like blink and the story didn’t appeal to me that much, but other than that a fantastic game.
Dishonored was a mix of Thief and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, both of which had loot. Dishonored never pressured you into looting anything though besides the occasional key. You weren’t required to pick up gold or anything, if you don’t like doing that it’s all you deciding to do it. I do agree that there were too many RPG like elements like leveling powers up but I didn’t entirely dislike it. You really should get over your hate of options in video games though :3 .
I don’t hate Call of Duty (in fact I like some of the campaigns, also CoD 2 and CoD4 MP were fun back in the day), I’m not obsessed with it either tho. I like good oldschool gameplay the best. Bioshock is tolerable as an RPG shooter because even the loot there is optional, half of it is food (which is situational) the other half cash, that’s it. Same for Borderlands, I don’t have much of a problem with it, because looting chests is the sole point of the game, it doesn’t slow down anything.
Yes, I’m not a fan of those. Watching my friend play the latest Deus Ex was a pain in the ass. He was hacking some stuff for 3 hours or so, that’s it. Then trying to go through a section without being seen, restarting it 10 times in a row cause he failed each time.
Not in videogames, I like the Diablo, Warcraft and Starcraft games a lot, among others of the genres, I also play MMOs. I just don’t like FPS that are about anything else but shooting stuff.
Hell, I would even like Skyrim if it weren’t one piece of an overrated **** very little effort went into the game imo.
I just don’t see the logic of Stealth and RPG first person shooters. Off-topoc and not a first person shooter, but as an example, Metal Gear Solid 3 has like 15 weapons or so, despite the fact that the most effective way to beat it is by putting enemies to sleep. Why is the player given so many weapons while he gets punished for using them? That’s a bad design in my opinion. I’m glad MGSV looks more balanced in the stealth/action department.
Dishonored isn’t an FPS though. It’s a stealth action game with a first person viewpoint and some RPG elements. You use the loot you pick up to buy items and upgrades for your equipment. Your arguments seem to be based around Dishonored being an FPS, which it isn’t.
Are you guys forgetting who we’re talking about here?
Sadly not about you.
I hope you don’t think the thief games are bad because they are first person because that makes about as much sense as thinking Half-Life is bad because Gordon has green eyes
Well, aren’t you an open minded guy.
