Welcome to the Human Race.
Loving this game to bits, I just wish the stealth gameplay wasn’t so dependent on the third person cover system. Quite a few times I’ve been seen even when I was crouching beneath a window.
But, like, it’s just a minor detail anyway.
I’m not sure if I should be honored or ashamed for joining it.
I just beat it today. Fantastic Game.
I just wish I understood the story better, I really forget the original Deus Ex and should have played it again.
I did love what was played after the credits however.
Do you know if it ties in with the other Deus Ex’s stories?
All I’ve heard is that your character’s dreams of Icarus and Daedalus are a tie to the AI Constructs in the original Deus Ex.
Game is awesome. Sucks you right in. Generally I’ve been a stealthy, hacking type (sneaking around the police station was great fun), trying to be nice to all the good people. Killed 2-3 junkies/punks who’ve gotten in my way. Knocked one guy out because he had something I wanted that I failed to persuade out of him.
Oh, and one random chick on the street said she’d like to see how my implants worked. Couldn’t stop myself from tapping the ‘Q’ key. Jake the Muss style. It was awesome.
So does that mean Jenson is Helios?
No, it means that there is a reference to the first game.
so how much damage do I have to inflict to kill that first augmented guy I face? I was playing stealth and all I have is a pistol and the useless tranq.
just can’t beat him (on medium) i’ve hit him with about 20 shots to the face plus a gas canister and an explosive barrel and still he won’t die.
critique of the game so far:
Detroit is comically small, why try to be open/sandbox if that’s the best you can do.
Guards don’t notice when another guard goes missing?
LOOK THERE’S A VENT MAYBE YOU COULD USE IT TO BE SNEAKY, WHAT ARE THE CHANCES IT WILL GO EXACTLY WHERE YOU NEED TO GO
augmentation choices are underwhelming, looks like the game will play out mostly the same regardless of which ones you use
it’s a linear game trying hard to appear to be non-linear
playing a lot more like Invisible War than original Deus Ex so far. but it is pretty and cinematic
Dammit, you’re an idiot. Detroit is larger than any city hub in Deus Ex, and the level are as linear as the levels in Deus Ex. In case you’ve forgotten, neither game was a sandbox. They are both open-linear FPSs. You follow a vague path from chokepoint to choke point. They aren’t trying to be a TES game, they’re trying to be something different.
Bosses are really the only problem, the game is overall glorious.
I can tell you this right now, I’ve played IW and the original Deus Ex. I’ve seen gameplay of HR and it is a lot more like the original than the shit IW
Judging by your post you suck at the game. Playing on ‘GIMMIE DEUS EX’ and the first boss was easy to dispatch.
I’ve found out that the pistol is THE most useful thing ever. AP mod + silencer + damage + capacity + laser = you can play Splinter cell with more guns. I suck at stealth, so I use the silencer just to not alert enemy in the vicinity, and I’m loving it.
But not fun. The boss fights in this game are pointless, tedious, and counter to all the other great things the game does. Fortunately there are only a few of them and they’re pretty spread out.
The other shit that guy said was dumb though. Deus Ex isn’t a sandbox game. It’s not an open world game and it doesn’t claim to be.
The first boss (Barrett) was a pain in the ass, even on normal. Took 5 shotgun shells, two level 1 typhoons and a gas barrel. God.
Wow. Barret is easy to kill. I killed him with two EMPs and about 5-6 burst fire shots from the shotgun and he was down. He was also really stupid. I was already on the other side of the room and he was still spamming grenades at where I used to be.
Revolver all the way. Stun Dart, Unload a clip, Repeat, Dead.
Upgrade the pistol as much as it could be, w/ silencer. Flechette upgrade made the SMG fucking amazing, too.
So um, I hope I didn’t just read any spoilers there, but I’m about 5 hours into the original and I was just wondering if [COLOR=‘Black’]at the part where you get captured if there’s any way to kill Gunther or if he’s like, the final path to capture. Anna was easy to take care of, but even with this bug where all the UNATCO bots attacked Gunther, he wouldn’t die, so I’m guessing not… But yeah, even for an old game the story is really engaging, can’t wait to play Human Revolution.
