Dead Space 2

Ripper.

The PC controls are fantastically dodgy. I always found the pulse rifle useful for shooting things that aren’t limbs, like those tentacles.

I really want the gun from hardcore, it looks so much fun. Anyway I’m working on a guide for hardcore difficulty (running through on survivalist and making notes on each chapter) so hopefully it will be an idiots guide to completing the game.

I found the campaign to be pretty short if you have a good strategy and take your time, you can get to chapter 7 within a couple of hours which is where most people recommend the first save to be. After that most people recommend 10/11 then 13/14.

Anyway I shall post a link to the completed guide once I’ve finished and used it!

Do the aiming problems vary depending on your rig? Because I never once had trouble with the aiming system in Dead Space 1.

Also, one thing that kinda bothered me in DS2; when aiming the lasers coming from the gun they don’t truly aim anymore, they just go out a foot or two and then end and a overly bright blue crosshair is pasted onto the screen. I always loved how in DS1 you could watch the lasers go out from the gun and reach the thing you were aiming at and you were actually using the lasers to aim, not a crosshair.

I thought they said they fixed the PC controls this time. :meh:

If you go into the pause menu select settings > controls and change aiming to classic it will return to how it was in DS1.

The Best Guns in This game are Plasma Cutter, Line Gun, Pulse Rifle (For The Pack) Detonator and the Force Gun BOOOOM!

And weather it is Scary for you or not this game is really really good

Ripper.

It’s better than before, but if you turn off vsync, it runs perfectly.

I never had trouble with the controls on either Dead Space on my computer :hmph:

I don’t get on with the Detonator or the Force Gun. I always seems to place the mines in the wrong place and the force is just too underpowered even at max. The Pulse Rifle is good in the early levels but it loses it’s effectiveness later on.

My pick of the crop is the same as my favourites for the last game. The Plasma Cutter, Line Gun and Contact Beam. I love the secondary fire on the Contact Beam, it makes the final boss too easy.

I hate the Leapers in this game, they are so fast and seem to leap a lot further. They are always accompanied by slashers to so while your busy with them a slasher will sneak up on you.

Leapers piss me off. And I’m still experimenting with gun combos, but atm I’m liking the Plasma Cutter, Pulse Rife, Line Gun, and Javelin Gun as my normal combo.

Oh, no, for DS1. I’m don’t have DS2 yet!

And its not that there are distinct ‘problems’, its just that they seem sluggish and imprecise, as though you were trying to use a control stick, but while using a mouse. Its difficult to explain, but it was particularly jarring when coming from Splinter Cell, which did its over-the-shoulder controls much better.

The only issue for me is the sheer quantity of padding in the first game. Seriously, it takes about 15 hours to get to the point. Steam says I’ve been playing now for 17 hours, and in-game it only says 8, which is likely because of the sheer amount I’ve died over the course of playing. Not only is it just massively frustrating now, I feel ripped off that its taken it this long to get to the point of the story. Its like I was flicking through 400 pages of Twilight before suddenly reaching Lord of the Rings. But where all the writing is backwards.

loony, disable v-sync in the options if you have it enabled. You’ll notice a huge difference in the mouse movement.

And framerate.

God dammit Isaac, the moment a crazed man attacks you with a screwdriver is not the time to remove your armored helmet. In fact, at any point during the necromorph invasion it is not a good time to remove your armored helmet. Stop it.

I thought the exact same. When a man is trying to kill you you don’t remove your face protection! What the fuck, man?

I think the flamethrower is my favorite. Followed closely by the seeker rifle. They are spectacular guns and the two combined work well in just about any situation.

And yes, it never made sense to me that he always removes his helmet at the worst possible times.

The first time Isaac has a needle towards his eye he’s being manipulated so I assume that the impulse to turn open his helmet is also controlled.

Later on when a certain someone attacks him (don’t want to spoil it for anybody who hasn’t played it yet) the fellow engineer pierces his suit first which opens the helmet. As he knows where the helmet control is he will naturally know how to open Isaacs suit up. Then he attacks.

I’ve not had a problem with the aiming in either games, albeit I’ve tried using a mouse and keyboard but it doesn’t feel right, this game belongs on a controller, just get more of a feel for it IMO.
