Dead Space 2

Ripper. Just sayin’.

Plasma cutter is (again,) pretty much the only weapon I use. Although I have begun to fall in love with the Contact beam. Works wonders against the hoards of the hardened (black w/red eyes) necromorphs. The javelin gun also sounds like it would be amazing against those little hoard basterds. I do want a better gun for taking out the stalkers though. Annoying pricks. > :frowning:

I never bought it :frowning: Maybe I’ll pick it up the next time I’m at a store.

The Javelin gun was the best new weapon for the game. The pulserifle is ok too, but not that useless.

I really hope Visceral Games will add a melt cannon or Laser cannon (not the one currently in the game, I mean one to have a real laser) in Dead Space 3.

Well worth it.

Also, am I the only one annoyed by having to buy weapons? I can understand the basic reason, but it leads to trying to save money by not trying new things, and limits the players experience. I’d much rather get the weapons for free of dead bodies (which is more logical) then have to buy ammo.

No, the mechanics DO NOT set out to scare you. They give you more ammo than necessary, tons of health, plenty of health kits and upgradable overpowered weaponry to fight incompetent bad guys that rarely hurt you anyway.

The aesthetics set about trying to scare you. In a completely pathetic and wholly generic way mind you. Corridors, in spaaaaaace!

No, Amnesia was only playable in a way that was scary. It didn’t kindly ask me to play in a certain way, funnily enough it didn’t give you an automatic rifle, or equivalent. Having no way to defend yourself is terrifying. The game didn’t have to tell you to do this, it simply gave you no way to go about defending yourself.

To me Dead Space 1 and 2 were just satisfying shoot em ups, that isn’t a bad thing though really.

It’s not really a problem because all the weapons are incredibly cheap, while ammo is incredibly expensive. The only thing that really ends up taking all my money is power nodes.

Well thats the thing, I’d rather spend that money on power nodes.

Well if all you care about is power nodes then you wouldn’t want to buy more than 4 guns because you’d rather just stick to some guns and upgrade them, so the most you’d spend is around 35000 on weapons which is only 3 power nodes. And there are what, 8-9 weapons in the game? All ranging from about 7000-12000, so that really doesn’t add up to a lot even if you bought EVERY gun.

Perhaps, but I don’t think like that.

Anybody tried hardcore mode yet? I’ve completed once on Survivalist, once on Zealot (new game+ so easier than first play through tbh) and now I’m attempting hardcore cause I really want the reward [:p] but I’ve just failed miserably toward the end of chapter 2!

Three saves is just ridiculous with no checkpoints. If you’re playing on PC there is a glitch that resets the save count if you close the game down and load it up again but if you use this in my book you’re cheating. I’m playing on Xbox 360 so will have to do it the hard way. What annoys me is less than a week after the game releases EA/Visceral release DLC suits which are available in game and offer an early advantage for those attempting hardcore. I’m suspicious that hardcore mode was specifically created to sell DLC items!

Not worth it.

but the weapon that you unlock is :awesome:

You would have committed suicide from the frustration long before you got it.

I would try hardcore mode, but the whole 3 saves thing makes it pretty stupid; it means you have to play a third of the game every sitting. it’s not that easy or that funny to play any one game that long.

I just listened to the ZP review of DS2, and I must say, he isn’t entirely critical of it! Chances of forking out money for the new one are greatly increased!

I just finished my 2nd playthough on my runup to Zealot, had enough nodes to fully upgrade rig, stasis, and 4 guns. Still have like 10 more. Hardcore won’t be that bad aside from the only 3 saves thing. I thought hardcore was pretty easy on the first game, so I’m not expecting it to be very bad on 2. meh. Gotta get that platinum trophy!

Isaac:“Bang! Bang! Bang! Argh! Phewphewphewphewphew!”

I haven’t played Dead Space 2 yet, but I found the pulse rifle to be very efficient at dismemberment in the first one. Love it :3

Maybe it’s just because aiming’s a bitch for the PC, who knows. All I know is it took quite a few shots to take off an arm or leg of a slasher.
