Crysis 3

So anyone care to uncover wtf happened between Crysis 1 and 2 ? Cos I seriously dont have a clue about how a decent game turned that much into shit…

Retconning. Lots of retconning.

and some comic book where they apparently killed crysis 1 people

PC game developers not understanding console trends and just emulating what’s already successful on the platform instead of just carrying their own successful elements over.

So basically “CoD’s doin pretty good, let’s make one”

Now that the Crysis 1 port has done pretty well on consoles though, I hope they can bring some of that magic back.

Hopefully. I would like to see them add prone back. I liked the idea of being able to lay in bushes and hide from enemies and since it’s going to be jungle-like this time around, maybe they will. Maybe even have a dive to prone like there was in alpha versions of Crysis 1, also kinda like the slide feature so you can sprint and dive over stuff for the people who want to run and gun

You couldn’t crouch in Crysis 2?

I phrased that wrong. I’m just used to seeing games that have multiple stances or referring to it in that way having more than standing and crouching

I just hope the levels aren’t narrow. I really want to have the kind of openness found in Crysis 1.

By that I mean (and know it may not happen) being able to go throughout whole buildings. Maybe the ability to jump from one to the other via open windows. How about some really tall stairwells! Maybe there could be broken areas and you’d have to strength jump or something.

I’d at least want some kind of openness. Imagine being able to just explore the city. There could be secrets scattered all over the place.

I suppose the engine can only handle so much (as can the PS3 and 360). What I’d really like to know is that the PC version won’t be given console limitations. If you want the best way to play Crysis 3, it should be on a PC.

Yes, they cannot model all of Manhattan. But they don’t have to. There could be plenty of non-accessible areas.

Edit: Missed a page…

I hope they expand on te advanced movement mechanics in Crysis 2.
That was one of the few good things about the game.

That sure is some nice post apocalyptic scenery porn in those new screenshots. But NY… again?.. Surely they could have kept this urban overgrown jungle theme but in another new city?

It actually looks like a perfect blend between both environments; jungle and city. If, like someone mentioned, you have the ability to go throughout the wrecked buildings, the environment in this game could be shaping up to be quite interesting.

What I’m worried about, however, is that they’ll fuck up the gameplay mechanics ah la Crysis 2, which would pretty much ruin it.

New screen:

The aliens blend in with the environment now?

I’m fucked

No. That one is destroyed. It’s old and rusted. You’ve killed that one in part 2 and part 3 plays 24 years later.

Ah, well that’s good.

That screenshot looks very… open.

Am I the only person who genuinely liked Crysis 2?

No, you aren’t. I enjoyed that game more than the original game. C2’s story was as a rule far superior and the vehicle sections were short and unobtrusive. After all, there’s no “Ascension.” (That level was also abscent from the C1 console port.)

I’m getting tired of CE3’s default white blown out skies. I’m sure it can be toned down, but do they REALLY want it to look like that? Is that REALLY on purpose?
