I have completed both of the HL games and the very first weapon you stumble upon is the Mother Fuckin Crowbar! Out of all of the possible blunt object that can be used as a weapon, it had to be a crowbar. I kept on thinking “Why a crowbar?” or “What about X instead of the crowbar?” It’s not like Gordon used to open wooden crates before he worked at Black Mesa (or maybe he did). but I think that just after the Resonance Cascade, he just found a random pipe that fell from the ceiling. That would make more sense than a crowbar that came out of no where. And I don’t think that the crowbar could provide any more use than using it when you first obtain it. (unless you like to rush with your crowbar high :retard

So just make a Pipe model and mod it in, voila, problem solved. No need to have a discussion about it.

I think they just wanted something different from a knife, axe, fists, etc… It was an unconventional melee weapon for an unconventional FPS.

No, but then it’s not like Gordon found the crowbar in in his own locker or in a lab, he found it in the corridor in a toolbox, which is where you’d find most crowbars when not in use.
Condemned aside, I don’t see how a piece of broken pipe makes more sense as a weapon than a crowbar. Pipes just don’t break in handy to wield sizes whereas a crowbar is DESIGNED to be hefted.
Because crowbars are awesome and everyone should have one in case of headcrab infestation.

Also, crowbars are just pure digital awesomesauce. They do not need explaining, and what is wrong with him finding a crowbar anyway? It was different to every other game, and is both iconic and realistic.
