Creatures you hate the most?

It is not that I hate headcrabs, it is that I am not sure what the logic is to them.

Why do they exist? You never see what they zombify in Xen in HL1. Even Opposing Force, which was partly to expand the world of Xen, all you see is the human-zombies grow bigger and nastier. HL2: more variety is introduced (and some variety removed) but the targets are all humans still. For some reason, an alien species evolved on another world specifically to zombify humans on Earth when Gordon Freeman ripped a hole in the space-time continuum? I have seen no suggestion anywhere that they zombify any of the Xen critters so why do they exist? So annoying! The only viable explanation I can think of atm is that something planned to attack the Earth and for a number of years before Black Mesa, they let the headcrabs run loose in Xen where they are mostly harmless. Perhaps the G-Man is actually an alien and he happens to like looking at the the inside of human chest cavities?

I hate them.

Controllers are really frustrating and dumb

Zombines are annoying

Antlion Workers are frustrating

HL2 was going to have an Alien Assassin & a zombie variant there of. While it isn’t in HL1 (nor HL2 for that matter) it shows that they can & could have potentially had other hosts at some point.

Antlions- freaking annoying!
Manhacks- Even more annoying
Scanners- HATE them. It isn’t funny to blind me by taking pictures.

Headcrabs might just exist and feed on other things without zombifying them. If they feed on humans, however, the side-effect is zombification. Think of it like Wells’ War of the Worlds. (Spoiler in the black) [COLOR=‘Black’]A relatively harmless virus kills the martians.

So, the headcrabs are just feeding on the humans and the humans transmogrify into zombies (or other kind depending on human or headcrab). Some say that the varieties of headcrab is the result of genetic modification by the Combine.

If it’s not a stretch, I hate Combine that are behind force-fields and have machine-gun turrets such as along the beachfront outside of Nova Prospekt.

“-And these DAMN FISH KEEP BITING ME! GRAAAAAAGGHH!!”

I hate how vortigaunts always seem to be DEAD ON PRECISE with their fucking energy beams.

That’s why I hate them in HL 1. I’m not that fond of them in HL 2, either.

HL1 alien grunts, scary ugly tough, and there is never just 1 of them.

Voltigores

Controllers by far…

Everything else is cake.

bullsquids. Their projectiles are so slow that you feel like an asshole when you get hit with them.

You feel the same when you get hit by a medic with an ubersaw in TF2.

Oh and Pit Drones… those little infinitely spawning buggers… First play-through of HL:OF I didn’t see you could close the gates so they just kept fucking coming. Yeah its also scary being chased by 20,000 of them whilst simultaneously dodging their flying stakes.

Playing through EP2 I have to add the Antlion Guardians and Workers, especially the latter.

I hate those stupid barnacles. They’re such lazy bastards that just hang around and eat whatever walks beneath them. At least HL2 allowed me to feed explosive barrels to those damn tumors with tongues.

I don’t hate any of the creatures in the HL series, the stalkers are, in my opinion, very well made. Only problem is that they don’t have a ragdoll effect, so when you try to kill them they fuck up. But what scares me the most is the fast zombies, and the stalkers in the train of ep1. The captured stalkers are fucking creepy, and adrenaline was rushing throughout the whole Ravenholm part. Still does. And just as it starts to fade off, another fast zombie jumps in front of me, punches me and screams.
EDIT: I forgot about the HL1 barnacles, they scare the shit out of me. The sound they do when they pull you up, that’s really scary.
EDIT #2: Dorian: HL1 alien grunts, scary ugly tough, and there is never just 1 of them.

Actually, in Blue Shift, there is only one of them in Xen…

This.

HL1 - nothing
HL2 - poison headcrabs, poison headcrab zombie (quasimodo)
HL2e1 - nothing
HL2e2 - acidlions
