Creatures you hate the most?

There’s a thread about what creatures you liked the most, so I thought we could have one about the exact opposite:

What creatures (any NPC) did you hate the most in any of the Half-Life (HL1, HL2, EP1, EP2) games?

Describe why you didn’t like them, what was too annoying, boring or unrealistic about them, why they didn’t fit into the atmosphere of the game and how you would have liked them to be different.

In HL2, I didn’t really like the antlions because there were always so many of them, and they just kept coming forever all the time. I didn’t find them scary, just annoying. I think I prefer the creepier monsters like the ones in HL1, and the different zombies from HL2.

I don’t hate any of them, but the most annoying for me were antlions. I was fine with them at first, but then they just got annoying.

Just finished reading the OP, and that’s pretty much what you said. :3

Striders in Episode 2. Oh boy, I just loathed the part in White Forest.

Hunters. Hate them with a passion.

The most embarrassing thing is, that I when I first played through ep2, I never thought to throw things at them. Nor to hit them with the car.:facepalm:
IT IS SO FUCKIN’ DIFFICULT TO KILL THEM WITH REGULAR WEAPONS!!! :FFFUUU:

I rarely use the gravity gun for combat. I guess I feel like I’m cheating that way. It seems too … easy… :stuck_out_tongue:
So I guess I hate them so much, because they force me to use the gravity gun against my will. Bastards. :freeman:

I guess poison zombies and fast zombies. Not just because I don’t like the idea of multiple kinds of headcrabs. One is enough. It’s also because the fast zombies are annoying, and the poison zombies just scare the fuck outta me.

Yup I really hate the poison headcrabs. Not because they’re annoying or boring or anything, but because I hate spiders in real life and they remind me of them. Especially the bastard clinging on the ceiling at one point in episode 2 :stuck_out_tongue:

The teleporters in HL1. They scared the shit out of me all the time. They still do.

Do they count? :3

The fast zombies scare the shit out of me sometimes and I have literally jumped in surprise.
I hate the NOME!!! even though its not an NPC I hate it over everything else.
I hated the fast Striders and the hunters in the last part of white forrest with there never ending flechettes that instantly blow up the Magnison device

counter-terrorists

I hate poison headcrabs because they are pointless. They bring your health down to 1 but there are never any other enemies around to finish you off… So stupid.

I also hate Danny Smith

Yeah I hate them too, I hate the sound they make and that they’re not like the “classic” headcrab in any way! I also don’t like the kind of zombie it makes, it’s huge and slow and hard to kill…

lol! Why not  But how do teleporters scare you? You mean those glowing green/orange balls right?

I hate antlions, poison/black headcrabs/zombies, fast zombies AND hunters wich I can kill with my crowbar without needing to shot at them… they really have to lern to work

I would have to say the barnacles are my most hated. Sure, they aren’t aggressive at all, but the inside freaks the shit out of me. The first time I got eaten by one in HL1, I had to put the game down for a year. I still don’t know what the inside of an HL2 one is. :frowning:
The only time I got freaked out by another creature is when I was looking for a poison zombie in a house on the coast. I checked the entire house and nothing. I looked out the window to check if it was outside when I heard it behind me. When I turned around, so much adrenaline rushed through me, I didn’t feel my legs for a minute. I could have beaten the thing to death, though.:retard:

man-hacks (robot not creature but nvm)
They are really fiddly to kill when there are loads of them it gets annoying, when I see a group of them, I wait for them with my crowbar and it gets boring because they technique to kill them is not fun.

Nobody’s mentioned Zombine yet? Not only do they sound annoying as all hell, but they’re like a cross between a poison zombie and a fast zombie. They can survive a double-barrel shotgun blast to the face on Hard Mode, they can run at you, and of course there’s the kamikaze attack they love pulling on you, which really sucks ass because most encounters with Zombine are in close quarters.

Honorable mention goes to the Hunters; normally I love fighting them, but they make the last sequence in Episode 2 stupidly unfun. I also hate being blindsided by Antlion Workers and having all of my suit power removed along with a big chunk of health. At least about some of that regenerates though.

so much hate on this thread…
how can you enjoy half life 2 if you hate half of the creatures?

anyway the only ones i really hate are the stalkers but fortunately not because they give me a hard time, you hardly encounter a few of them in episode one, but their designs are… well… shit. plain and simple. not very inspired characters…

i also don’t really like manhacks, for similar reasons but shooting them down with the revolver one by one is kinda fun…

EDIT: btw a creature scaring you =/= you hating the creature. if it’s scary, that means it’s a really well made element in a game. at least that’s how i see it.

Idem:fffuuu::meh:

I dislike most of the HL2 enemies because,
a) They aren’t that hard to kill, and
b) There just weren’t enough Combine, it seems

Well when the damn thing scares me to death I then hate it, not because it sucks, but because IT SCARED THE SHIT OUT OF ME!

The creature I hated the most… humans, those filthy apes that walk on two legs and are constantly making noises. Before me and my colleague advisors invaded this little, pathetic sphere you call earth, your species was already depleting its resources. The only reason we didn’t exterminate the whole race for the sake of the planet is that men make for perfect lab rats and have tasty brains… :rabies:
