Well apparently you didn’t if you thought he couldn’t make his mind up.
Sir, while you are being uber serious internet business, I am simply shitstiring. But yes, I get the feeling that he couldnt make up his mind on the subject.
Einstein recognized the sociological importance of religion without being a believer himself. Something which is apparently way the hell over the heads of pretty much everyone ITT.
People need something to believe in, but I doubt that religion is the right way to go to achieve that. People shouldn’t be believing in a deity but in themselves, they shouldn’t be praying to anyone but themselves.
I’m a baptized and confirmed Christian on paper, but I’ve never prayed or asked God for favors out of own free will (obviously, since I went to a Catholic school, I was forced to pray and do everything a “good Christian is ought to do”). But I’ve always believed in myself and my own capabilities.
Where I am now has nothing to do with anyone but myself (well, maybe my parents since they allowed me to make my own choices in terms of education etc). I honestly think I’m “stronger” than anyone that follows a religion.
matt I am dissapoint. Your barbs normally have much more meat in them.
maybe it seems that way because I’m backing up the point you were (I think) trying to make?
Man, this forum must really be getting to me…even people I’m agreeing with think I’m trolling them…
Well, I guess you could always get out and try the other topic areas, get a breath of fresh air and mingle with species of your own kind? :s hrug:
Like Socrates once said: The only good is knowledge, the only evil is stupidity. Of course it’s not the exact same but that’s how I perceive life. If you’re dumb (I mean reallly REALLY dumb, as in not knowing what 1+1 is) you do not belong here. At least as a human old enough to know basic stuff.
stupidity is evil eh? I cant disagree more. stupidity may be tragic or something to be pitied… but to call it evil is rather … um… stupid isnt it? :s nicker:
The following is an exerpt from my personal theory. Feel free to disagree.
So you see, Adam and Eve were really Ameobas, and creationism and evolution can get along.
Well, it’s not evil in the sense of…pure evil but rather something that’s just wrong.
EDIT: That was oriënted towards Catz. Unfortunately Jeff decided to be a ninja and post before me.
Amoebas were not the first forms of life so that wouldn’t make sense.
I hate people who try to add “god did it” to everything.
It is one of the most idiotic things I can think of.
The correct way is to admit you don’t know and then try to find out what actually happened.
Tagging god to everything will only hold progress back, because it is not an answer.
God did it.
I did it.
Yes, I did.
EDIT: Didn’t see your post, Shadow.
Darn you, Cell!!!

Anybody who takes intelligent design seriously is an absolute idiot.
lets not worry about things like impressive arguments, debate avenues, thought out points or any of that. Lets just offer our opinion with a thinly veiled insult.
Oh wait… I think I did a bit of that didnt I. I will stop.
Well.
Anyone want to ask an ID person any questions? Or discuss ID or something like the thread suggests?
EDIT: Catz, why would you not want impressive arguments, debate avenues, or thought out points? That makes it sound like you’re afraid of them because you dont have any, right? I can understand name calling and all, but this isnt a poll, this is a thread!
