Why not? Developers, studios, etc. in film, music, television, gaming, all like to build up hype before giving big updates like that. Simple timer seems to have done the trick.
Yes, there will be more content other than a release date if it was actually there.
I’m expecting a change/something new in the TV at the main site in the next 24 hours.
@Crypt , a 3 day countdown just for a release date?
In my opinion its unprofessional, but that just might be me.
I’m pretty sure the Black Mesa team will do something more interesting and won’t let us down.
This better be some shitty announcement or else…
Countdown to trailer which will show us the release date -/-/2030
rember when glaydos said “find someone else to help you. maybe black mesa” maybe it wasn’t a joke maybe this is the countdown to when valve unveils they’re working with black mesa haha fat chance

In other news, I’m curious: are we actually certain bmrf.us is part of the ARG? If so, shouldn’t we just continue this in the dedicated topic, rather than splitting the information between two topics? If not… shouldn’t we start splitting the data in the ARG wiki?
Is that Mike Tsarouhas talking?
dat radio distortion effect tho!
Sounds more like Cornet.
Though I guess I haven’t heard Mikee not screaming his lungs out.
You might want to go to the Inspect Element console on the page, there’s a nice Gman staring at you.
EDIT: Also I did the math, and the countdown is counting down it 08:47 Mountain Time (The time you get on the tram in the game)
This better be some shitty announcement or else…
Hmmmm…not sure how to respond to that.
Gabe Newell you liked your own post? Lame…
Lies!
(I was seeing how long it’d take before someone noticed)
For I live in central Europe I just notitced the countdown will end at 16:47 (CET) , which means 8:47 at New Mexico. I was like… “oh this nice!”
So, I made this video to get people ready and pumped up for the big release tomorrow. All I pretty much did is match the site in video editing (the Broadcast, sound, Bad TV effect) and I put links to the site and stuff in the description. Also, the video isn’t monetized. I was wondering if I could keep this up and if others wanted to they could spread it around? All I want is to support the AWESOME mod and it’s team .
Here is the video:
The Video
I hope this is pleasing to all!

Looks great, and this’ll also be good for when the event is over so we can have reference to the broadcast.
Y’know, guys. I think y’all are taking this Black Mesa thing a little too far.
I only know this, and bring this up, from working in radio in the past, but…
The FCC is really, really controlling about unauthorized use of both the old Emergency Broadcast System tones and the newer Emergency Alert System tones.
Just… don’t get in trouble please.

Otherwise? I visited the site just now to check the countdown after checking it last few days… saw the new video, heard the new audio, and it got my heart pounding with excitement!
And… now that my pulse has dropped some, and I re-read the FCC thing, then if it’s not “transmission” (presumably TV/radio) then it probably isn’t actually an issue, and I’m just crazy.

I emailed one of the contacts on the FCC website about usage of EAS tones, i will add an edit once I get a response.
well twitter spoiled the countdown as the devs just mass tweeted a sending of steam keys to youtubers.
