Countdown on the BM website

Hubicorn what are you up to…?

Welp let the hype begin…

Interesting. I guess its next release is almost here.

The Timer’s for May 5th around 10 AM EST for me. Guess we’ll see by next Tues.

May 4th is my birthday, and voilá here comes the present! Even if it will be just a step dancing G-Man I am still excited!

A few hours ago the timer was set for 10:47 AM on no specific timezone (the countdown appeared different for everybody as it was based on each users’ computer timezone) but now it was fixed and the source page now says “5 may 2015 08:47:00 UTC -6:00”.

I don’t do hype. Also mildly annoyed by the constant cryptic surprise stuff, from ARGs to whatever this is, but I guess I’ll take it. Still curious as to exactly what the countdown is for, though (duh).
I know BM:MP is apparently close to external testing phases, maybe that’s on the table? Or maybe some totally different thing that isn’t what anyone builds it up to be.

It’s either that or Xen (or both if we’re lucky). I don’t hype much either, but it’s obvious it’s SOMETHING otherwise they’d not be this cryptic.

I’ll get hype when I know what it is. While I have my faith that the cool BM guys wouldn’t just tease everyone in this manner for anything not worth excitement, it still would be a bummer if it wasn’t any more interesting than what we get on the forums every other day.

Meanwhile, the dev team is snickering behind their monitors as Hubi hovers his finger over the “Release Dancing GMan GIF” button, checking his phone alarm constantly, incessantly, foregoing food, water, sleep, and his sanity, watching the numbers go down…

I’d be more hyped if we had gotten the MP stream video already released, as I’m not seeing them releasing the MP (which, correct me if I’m wrong would be released along with the Steam version of BM) before the video itself…

Makes since to count down to 8:47. Black Mesa did the same thing in their first release of the game.

I hope it will finally the 2nd part! Can’t wait

No guarantee it’s Xen, and we’re not sure what the release plans are specifically. I still think if this was at the end of March, it’d be an April fool’s prank.

Regardless of my ramblings, I’m highly curious about what this is about.

In b4 tinfoil hats.

I was pretty sure it was a release timer… then I remembered BKDale is still fixing models, and the MP guys said that the stream was not showing final content, right?

…Hmmmm. Well, whatever it is, I just hope it’s worth the excitement I’m feeling. Giving no information leads to rampant and wild speculation, so if they’re not looking to deliver big time, they may be making a bit of a mistake.

I don’t think it is the Release date for Steam, seems too sudden, and no announcement. I’m thinking a trailer with the release date

For the developers’ sake, I really do hope this tease is intended for the final steam release. If they create all of this hype for something other than the steam release/Xen/MP, there’s going to be A LOT of bitching cropping up everywhere. Somehow, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was just some type of trailer or the multiplayer stream though.

Good point. Whatever it is, I’m looking forward to it.

I don’t normally think half life on Cinco de mayo…

:stuck_out_tongue:

I can’t wait, I’m off school that day, and my toughest class’s AP test (Chem, interestingly enough) is the day before. Will I soon be able to go into the labs of black mesa with my newfound skills that affect gameplay in no way whatsoever?

Soon…

EDIT: So, the title of the page is “TOP SECRET//NOFORN BMRF/TRANSMISSION” According to Wikipedia, NOFORN is a US term that means material cannot be given to any non-US citizens. “NO FORiegn National access allowed”

If it’s a kick-butt trailer that teases some new stuff and gives us a release window, then a countdown was not a bad idea. But a 5-day countdown timer for a recording of a stream they did weeks ago? That’d be the most anti-climatic thing ever… even if it was a good stream (I never saw it…)
However, I personally think that if you’re not gonna give ANY info other than a timer, and it’s anything short of the release, the timer shouldn’t be put up any sooner than 24 hours prior. 1 day is just enough time to let people know something big is gonna happen, without people thinking it’s gonna be something as big as the release.

5 days, to me, is too long to just be a little tidbit, but JUUUST too short for a release. That, and I’d think they’d TELL us if a release was immanent. They’d want the press to talk about the release before it happened.

Well, whatever it is, I’m pumped. Don’t let us down, guys! You haven’t yet!

BTW: I heard there was originally Morse Code? I don’t hear any…

We can hope for a trailer but if there is one I think they’ll wait for the hype to build a little at first.

I’m so excited about it and constantly annoying my brother about it. ^^
