Community Update

I think (on the day it is released) they should post the links to the various mirrors/torrents on the facebook, twitter, and steam group page, because I think it’s fairly likely that the entire website comes down on the 14th- atleast for a few hours

There are plans to accommodate the load.

Lol these forums are gonna be completely dead on the 14th for about 8-10 hours.

Gasher +1…

That’s what she said :jizz:

Last night…

Holy…

We made it on BBC News.

us? Didn’t see you there…

I saw that, it’s pretty crazy.

BM “Kinda” made it on steam too, if you count that you click on any Half-Life game in your steam list, and it shows “BLACK MESA SOURCE RELEASING” basically on every recent news list.

Us, as in Black Mesa. We are Black Mesa and Black Mesa is us.

I am Black Mesa!

Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated in 10 days.

I made a playlist of all the BMS soundtrack with links to the website. Here is a link so everybody can see it, just make sure you play it in 1080p because otherwise the loading is weird. Thanks to Joel for all the great music! Link

YES!
First of all. That’s great!!! I hope the biggest obstacles are all behind you, everybody can rest a while for now and mainly, you will feel our happiness in about next 10 days! I know it will be special day for everybody (even to thoose evil-tongues).
But all of your work is something special for me. I can see every detail there and there (I’m even amazed by the tentacles from 2009 triler, so much). And the fact, that your job is far far away from the “studio development” -> ultra-respect!!!
I’ve played HL1 about 60x (without Xen) and about 6x (with Xen). Now I think I’ll repeat the process (by reverse order).
Oh and the soundtrack… Listening for the 5th time and it simply taking my breath out. I can’t wait for fights with some songs!!! And reaching new locations with ambient songs… rrrrrr!!! PS: Sorry for my poor english… I’m out of words anyway and then translate… ouch… I know

Hello guys.
Can we know the size of the final product we will all eagerly download on september 14th? Some of us (well, me) have some really bad internet, and that information could help me greatly! Thanks.

It’ll be approximately 4GB compressed.

We understand these answers are important to everyone (even to those who plan on skipping out on work/school to download and play) and hopefully real soon we will shed light into the download plan and process soon. Hang in there! We want to make sure your hooky day is not in vain.

hope it will be released at steam so valve can see how important this project is and the download speed will be better i guess.

Oh my! It is settled than. Black Mesa is making history. :freeman:

Part of the release plan is to make sure this does not happen.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
