Combine vs Covenant

Combine. An army of Covenant lost to ODSTs in Halo ODST. Conversely, you could say Gordon, a fucking scientist, killed the Combine himself. My response is this: the players expect Gordon Freeman to be some badass super-hero, just like Master Chief is. An ODST is a marine volunteering to be an ODST, not a super-hero, yet a single ODST could destroy an entire army of Covenant. This is why the covenant would lose to Combine because marines could take them out, and also why i despised halo ODST.

How did the Covenant lose in ODST? I mean, they incinerated the entire city. If anything, the Covenant destroyed an entire army of Marines.

The pattern in the Haloverse is pretty much this:

-Covenant appear at a Human world.

-Humans see them and say “OH SHI-”

-Covenant land troops on the world for various reasons.

-Humans actually have an advantage on the ground due to superior tactics and ground strategy, so they win many ground battles, but usually with heavy losses.

-Covenant are getting owned on the ground so they say “screw this” and pull back into their ships.

-The Covies fire up their plasma weapons and glass the planet, everything on the world gets burned.

In ODST, you’re a ground trooper. The Marines do a decent job of defending the city, but as you see in the end of the game, the Covies just bring in their capital ships and glass the place.

I’d like to think that anyone Gordon Freeman can overcome just flat out sucks. I mean, he has no training of any kind, and can hip fire more accurately than so-called snipers.

The Combine would just have to drop one of their Dark Energy reactors on a Covenant fleet and it would be the end of them.

For all we know they could even have a weaponized dark energy bomb or some such.

Except that he has training and being able to hip fire well is a plus. You’re also ignoring the fact that the combine took over our entire planet in seven hours.
