Autosport Magazine review

Weather, Aero, Drivers, Team, Strategy, Lifestyle. And Anthony Davidson (Brawn GP test pilot) as racing consultant. Comes in November for PC, PS3 and RROD

looks like sex on 4 wheels

<3 codemasters

i c wut u did thar.

The most astonishing thing is how they are managing tyres, aero and weather. And how the track is changeable during the weekend and the race : track rubbering down, puddles which are in turn going to be displaced.

I’ve waited for this since GRID came out. Franchise is finally in the right hands.

Some more screens:

It looks good, there’s a ton of new stuff coming out of E3 about it.

I’m unconvinced about the physics being truly ‘simulation’, but I’m optimistic, and all you can do is wait for a demo for that.

btw, any news on the game will go straight here;

If it would be true sim, you would end up spinning out in the first low downforce corner.
However, I think that inclusion of aero, changeable trck mechanick, weather and improved individual AI (which was so FUCKING SUICIDAL in GRID) will make it more than decent. And of course, more fun that rFactor.
Plus the fact that it’s a Brittish game. Anthony Davidson alone is a good sign.

Also, stickied your link on top, Siggs.

EDIT: Weather Q&A

I’ve been waiting for this game since they anounced it. I can’t wait.

I heard it will have HeadTracking.

I would rather have that helmet cam with actual VISOR visible, like with that rFactor mod.

this sucks ass.

I really hope the damage is realistic. I always liked GRID and DIRT damge, but it just needs to be taken to another technical level.

They say it will be critical to the game. They even say that not making contact is crucial and that AI will avoid collisions at all costs, unlike GRID - so much RAGE went through as I usually collided when I was trying to overtake down the inside in the first corner - I can’t understand how those MOTHERUCKERS even got a driving license ffs.

Regarding safety car

Right, Im also looking forward to this, but I wan’t to try the game before I say anything. Codemasters latest games have not been simulation, only arcade (GRID is a really good example) F1 should be simulation, so I really hope they take that into equation! The looks great though!

But Im not really sure if it will beat rFactor. FSONE 2009 was released yesterday and it’s great! Even so, rFactor 2 is about to be released later this year and will contain alot of improvements since the current game. Don’t expect F1 2010 to have a better feeling than rFactor 2 and let’s say CTDP 2009 F1 mod

I’ve never been that interested in a Formula 1 game until now.

^that

I doubt that rFactor 2 would be entirely focused on F1. Alos, any weather in rF?
And no one ever pretended that GRID was a sim.

rF2 will have weather effects yus. Afaik the various aspects of the physics are being massaged, rFactor already had the most adaptable physics engine out there.

A ton of games support headtracking these days, mosre specifically, TrackIR headtracking. Shift does, I see no reason why this won’t.

E3 interview;
Take a look at this. If you can spare the time, watch all 30 minutes, it’s great. If you could stiky that too, that’d be great.

p.s. Hi there SkaningeN, you GP4 master. I never expected to see you here :stuck_out_tongue:
.

rFactor 2 will not focus on F1, but ISI (rFactor developers) are making the game even more mod friendly. So the mods, like CTDP, FSONE etc. will be even better than they are now. And yes, it will contain weather

Siggs, oh really? Which GP4 forum do I find you?! Of course Im a member here, big Half-Life fan!

I dont want F12010 to be like rFactor. I wouldn’t want to do a full career mode in rFactor, because it demands to much. Plus you can’t really drive an F1 car in rFactor with a keyboard, because its either no throttle or full throttle, same goes for the brakes.

Any modern racing game is like that with keyboard.

done.

I really hope tyre degridation accutally ruins the handling. It’ll piss poor if you can finish the race on runied tyres. Start on soft, finish on soft haha.
