The Russians that you helped in the first game are all pretty much dead now. The Ultranationalists, the bad Russians from COD4, came to power, and are now the ‘official’ Russians. It probably was hard to pick up, but some of the intro cutscenes and the “No Russian” level make it clear. The Ultranationalists are already angry at the West for attempting to intervene in their revolution, and the airport incident just gives them the excuse they need to invade. There was no part at all in the first campaign where you try to help them.
I wonder why they chose to name the russian villain makarov, when your russian ally in modern warfare 1 was called kamarov. I confused the two at first.

Anyway I think it’s a good game. IWnet works great most of the time and I actually try a lot more gamemodes as opposed to Call of Duty 4 were I was just playing on our TDM clan server.
I like all the attachments, unlockables and killstreaks. Although teammates are stupid sometimes since they never try to shoot down anything from UAV to Chopper Gunner (We all know it’s better than AC130).
Singleplayer was great as well in my opinion and I am already on my second playthrough.
Anyway that is what i think.
Played a bit of MP. My computer shit bricks at points, but from what I could see, they improved the mechanics greatly. Suddenly, you can sabotage an enemy’s killstreak reward with a few well-placed shots (yeah, I know, “CHOPPER DOWN IN MW1!” I’m referring more to UAV). The riot shield adds a bunch to tactical strategy, especially on domination.
And the ability to customize your killstreak is awesome, even though a 25 killstreak to earn a game-ending nuke is a bit difficult unless you are really awesome.
And using unlimited sprint and enhanced speed to jet around the map and knife everyone is lovely.

It may not be the best game ever conceived by man, but its still great for what it is. Aside from a few faults of course. Spec ops is kinda addictive, although the few missions that need 2 people to play were a bummer. Especially in solo mode…
Haven’t bothered myself to play the MP much, I mostly just play spec ops. (even though it counts as a form of multi-player)
