Buying RAM

So, I’m going to buy some RAM to take my computer to the maximum I can on it. I have four DDR3 240pin slots each with a max capability of 4GB for a maximum capability of 16GB in total.

I am thinking about getting four of these.

Yea or nay?

What I plan on doing is 3D character animation.

kingston is pretty stable unless they are overclocked, then you can pretty much say goodbye to your ram

if you want overclockable ram get some OCZ or Corsair

Any reasonably priced brand name ram is usually good if left at default settings. Go for it.

Forget Kingston. Forget Corsair. Forget OCZ and definitely forget “Any reasonably priced brand name ram is usually good”

Turn to Crucial.

Advice from someone who worked for a large memory assembler and distributor for 10+years.[/SIZE]

I don’t plan on overclocking anything ever. Stock speeds for me. I’ll look at the price difference between Kingston and Crucial (I have Kingston on my system right now and have had no complaints). Thanks!

EDIT: I have purchased four 4GB sticks from Crucial according to advice from CPU. And reviews I checked online. I should get them by the middle of the month. Woo. From 6GB of memory (three 2GB sticks) to 16GB! This should rock.

Yeah crucial is pretty decent, there are many reputable brands so I always forget the most awesome ones…

Well, this is quite a bit before the middle of the month!

So far, so good. When I go to sleep tonight, I’m going to memtest the shiznit out of these suckers.

EDIT: 6 passes while I slept, 0 errors. Woo! :awesome:

Well, now that my question has been answered (thanks everyone!), I will open this thread to anyone else who might want to buy RAM and wants advice.
