Buying Portal 2 for PC

Hi guys.

So, here’s my problem: for some time, I am trying to buy Portal 2 for PC. For some unknow reason, the game isn’t available to PC on physical form (DVD, whatever) here on São Paulo, Brazil. I’ve tried looking on some big stores, like Kalunga, Nobel and Fnac, but there’s only the PS3 version of the game.
Do you know where can I buy the game? I don’t trust internet financial transactions using credit card, and I don’t have much money to spend buying the game on another country and bring it here by postal service.

There are some sites that are selling the original CD key of the game, all with the same price, but I don’t know if it’s safe to trust them, even if I don’t pay with credit card.

Please, any suggestions?

EDIT:I don’t have an international credit card.

you don’t trust Steam with your credit card? It’s made by the same people who made Portal 2, or is it your parents who don’t trust online credit card payments?

after you get it on steam you can just burn the gcf files onto a DVDR DL, steam is required to play portal 2 anyway

^this. Steam is quite secure. Don’t worry.

I don’t use credit card on internet transactions because of risk of hacking.

Ok, Steam is secure, but it’s supposed to pay with dollars, which I don’t have. How the transaction would work with reais?

My gosh. Are you afraid of crossing a road? Most internet transactions are safe if they are done by a reliable company.

Edit : USE THE EDIT BUTTON. Also ninja’d. Use paypal.

Ok. I will just wait to get my next payment and try steam.

Relaxa, já comprei pelo Steam e não tive problemas.
Só usar cartão internacional.

Portal 2 for PS3 also includes a code to activate it on PC.

Do they send a CD via postal service or it’s activated automatically via Steam?

Also, Maxey, I don’t own a PS3. I don’t know why I would buy something that I don’t have even the means to play, but thx.

activated via steam, no physical copy of the game will be send to you

thx

Yeah, if you cannot find a physical copy of Portal 2 for PC and you’re unwilling to buy it on Steam, then the PS3 version is your only option. You could also import Portal 2 PC from the US, but that could be a bit pricey.

Buy the PS3 version if available. Sure, you cant use the PS3 version… But IT COMES WITH A CODE that you can use to get the PC version FREE.

Yeah but he still needs to download it through Steam, and the PS3 version is more expensive. Good logic.

Ya but for someone so concerned about the safety of their credit card the extra money might be worth it.

  1. Buy PS3 version
  2. Take code and activate on Steam
  3. Sell PS3 version
  4. Profit

1: Let a friend buy it for you as a gift on steam
2: Pay them back in cash
3: Play Portal 2

Thank you.

This is obviously what I was meaning… with the not having to deal with your card on line. Cause the whole download thing isn’t the issue for him. herp

Though I didn’t think of the selling the ps3 version…

Perfect idea though.

Too bad it wouldn’t work, since you have to register the PS3 version to a Steamworks account, and it’s linked to the PC version.
