hello its iblis again and im very sorry for gravedigging but i didnt want to open another thread on somthing i already had talked about. well im back asking for a little bit of help. im making a model of a megaphone for my freind and I uv unwraped it, and i ended up getting this
any body know what happend?
I have to say, based on your posting history, that the field of 3d graphics is probably not for you.
That being said, what exactly is the problem with the image you posted? It looks like a megaphone with autounwrapped UVs.
Hmm.
I’ve not used Blender, So I wouldn’t know much.
It could have been corrupted through saving?
Have you tried opening anything else?
1.Uninstall
2.Get 3dsmax
3.???
4.Profit! Well actually probably not in your case.
Does 3dsmax cost?
About 3 grand IIRC
I once made my own UV unwrapping script, for Maya, that pretty much just did a planar mapping per face at a globally fixed scale. Then I could manually and fairly quickly stitch those together to get optimal coverage with minimal warping… 8)
there is nothing at all wrong with that. Make some seams, pin some verts, and try again.
Around 4K now for Max 2010. Torrent it

OH
MY
GOD
…and I like Blenders UVW mapping workflow better than Max, at least it was better than 2009.
I’m just gonna keep blender, and not buy a fucking shit, untill I can do something good in blender.
You can get 3dsmax on a torrent or something… No one sane would buy it just to make stuff for non-profit mods
Except a school might.
My high school had it. I took 3d animation and got the highest mark in the class for doing shit all.
The (2 Year) 3D Animation course I took taught us most of the Adobe products (Photoshop, Premier, AfterEffects), and most of Maya, and it’s got a lot in it… The only parts we didn’t learn were the expensive addon parts like Fur, Fluids etc.
