blender being a bitch

Schools get some profit out of it, either directly or indirectly :stuck_out_tongue:

They ā€˜create’ graduates who know ā€˜stuff’ and tag them with their name (read Curriculum Vitae) , which gives them a reputation, which brings them students, which makes them money.

They also get educative licenses cheaper, because the software companies apply the same principle… they make more money with the more people there are who knows how to use their program.

What kind of dickweed programmer makes a modeling program cost more than a home computer?

I’d understand if computers had the ability to send users into itself to race against programs on lightbikes or something, but damn.

There’s all sorts of software out there that costs heaps. 3D Modeling software is only one example, albeit a good one.

Any professional software can cost thousands (or even tens of thousands :o )
Modelling and CAD programs come to mind, but also editing tools such as Adobe Premiere, or probably some sound mixing programs (that I don’t know anything about).

So yeah, they cost more than a HOME computer, but for a business, 5000$ to make projects that they’ll sell millions is nothing.

I think the most expansive programs are probably simulation programs… a lot are custom-made, and the amount of engineering put into making them is huge. You know, the kind of programs they’d use to simulate a nuclear reactor, stuff like that.

The title for this thread should be ā€œIblis being a bitch.ā€ Seriously dude, do you actually model or do you just like to make threads complaining about it?

*Programmers. The people who make 3Ds max are a pretty big company (saw them when I went to San Fran, never went inside, but they had a big building). They put a lot of resources into making that program, and the only people who buy it are companies who really need it (pixar, animation studios, architects, etc), so they don’t make a whole lot of sales. The price makes sense compared to how many sales they really make.

Also it’s not the programmers who set the price, it’s the marketing department that keeps selling features we haven’t built yet…!

I’m trying to model, i didn’t know what seams were at the time. So sorry for my ā€œignoranceā€ you can all continue bashing me for things I’m trying to learn. next time i wont go barging off to a forum to see if someone could help me, someone thats been using blender for a year or 2… ill just scrape off Google till i find my answer. your ā€œwisdomā€ has been very helpful. :wink:

I’ve been using Blender since 2007. Protip: if you ask an incredibly vague question on a forum and ignore requests for clarification, and then post a week later blubbering and whinging like Glen Beck’s redheaded stepdaughter about how nobody will help you, you can pretty much expect this quality of response, on any forum.

[COLOR=ā€˜Red’]True dat, but let’s keep it civil none the less.

Yeah, on the topic of blender bitchin’, can someone please explain to me how to add a particle size curve in the IPO curve window? As seen in this video at about 6:43 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtgdUCHvZmU

IPO -> Particles

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
