Black Mesa - Will it be scary?

agreed. my first encounter with the icthy was when I went into that room, I saw the scientist hanging on the thing, and I had half a mind to jump into the water and find a way to drop him (and the crossbow) and then the Icthy came up and…

well. I pretty much freaked.
I’ve already got a thing about water you cant see the bottom of IRL so… hahaha

In short, yes. You will shit bricks.

@ Stories of fathers offering beers: I wish mine did that. All he does is let me take shots of Jagermeister occasionally.

Half-Life was scary as hell when I played it around 5-10 years ago. Those barnacles and the crazy looking dog alien thingos scared the shit out of me, it was so freaky. And I was only playing the demo back then.

The only scary part in the original is the Ichtys and the Headcrabs (sometimes) so hopefully BM will be able to recreate that feeling!

fuck yea man ,the Ichtys always scared me

For me those aren’t “oh shit” moments, they’re “GODDAMN MOTHER FUCKER WHY ARE YOU ASSHOLES ALWAYS AROUND EVERY GODDAMN CORNER!!! FUCK!!!”

Seems everyone has Something that freaked them out or scared them in the original so… Yes, there will probably be something in the remake to do the same.

And sense knowing is half the battle at not being scared I’m not telling you what you might be scared of in the remake… I already know the assassins were scary in the 1st game hence they will not scare me this time around. :freeman:

Assassins. First time. Soiled pants. :fffuuu:

I will shit rice and… eat it!

First time I played HL1 and faced the garg’s I was almost crapping my pants. Even to this day, a garg I can’t kill sends me into a panicked frenzy. Tentacle’s are awesome though, I could sit listening to them all day.

Also, Ravenholm and Lowlife.

I get scared in an adrenalin pumping way with HL1, i was scared when i had low hp in We Got Hostiles and I first saw the hecu and i was pinned in the place where the osprey kept sending marines down infinately.
Certain elements of hl2 creep me out like the radio1.mp3 song, when i heard it, found the tv and it broke when i moved near, then the civ later on whistles it. Also the children screaming in the playground when pickign up the doll, scared me silly.
The HL2 beta had a gman sighting that was scary, i saw it on youtube.

So I’d expect Black Mesa to be at the level of half-life with emotion, nothing creepy like HL2, perhaps the gman sightings will be creepier in Black Mesa, like in Unforeseen Consequences when gman is behind the door, maybe the lightswitch could flicker or something and illuminate his face in a scary way.

Hehehe. Lowlife was more fun than scary, imo. Zombines are easy to kill, if you know that you can pull the nade out of their hands with the Gravity Gun and fire it back at them… :retard:

Yes I did know that, more often than not though, I’m too close and penned in to use it. And don’t want to risk hurting Alyx. (Game can be a bit finnicky at times about when she gets critically injured) Though I know the areas like the back of my hand, it’s still nerve racking to do it. Besides, Alyx seems more than capable of taking care of it herself, why take her fun away? :stuck_out_tongue:

groan WAGH! Haha, gotcha. Bitch.

Well, I guess when I see it, I’ll shit bricks.

I can’t really name specifics, but there were times when an enemy (usually a headcrab) would jump out at me and make me jump. I hope I get that from BM the first time.
Actually, I think the one grunt in the corner during QE (after you blow up the tripmines) startled me the first time.

I sure as hell wasn’t very old when HL1 came out and it scared the balls off of me on numerous occasions.

Of course everyone here is too HARD CORE and FUCKING MANLY to be scared.

everyone’s here have his own lil dirty secret :stuck_out_tongue:

I was scared to at times. :3

I just camped in the corner with my shotgun.

When I first played half life I was scared the whole way through the game. (I was in 7th grade) The scariest part I’d say was the blast pit, it took me an entire day the first time to get everything working to kill it. and when I did manage to burn it I was too close to the window so I had to restart the entire thing. An other scary part was when the guy was setting up the portal to go to xen, those freaky head things flying around shooting at you with energy while the lights are flickering then you have to jump in the portal at the exact right time or Gordon is torn to pieces.
