Kester is (or was?) a level designer for Black Mesa.
Kester was a penis.
^_^:3 :awesome:
They are on schedule like BM team!
Are you working on this mod through Steam somehow?
with this alien swarm coming out tomorow, I can see someone being crazy enough to port black mesa unto the aliem swarm sdk, just for kicks.
I don’t, how much work do you think people are going to do to save a bunch of little chumps who can’t shell out 10$ for a good game and great mod.
I guess, but I was going more from the angle of the programmer who just wanted to see if he could make it compatible. (not that there would be any full fledged effort to do this. It would be something like how the original half-life was only ported into source.)
I think there would be much more constructive prove your worth/learning projects then porting a mod to another SDK for the same engine.
And from what the developers have put on the VDC, i can surmise that porting it requires more changes than a port from one engine version to another.
I would like to see Science and Industry 2.
Yes,I know the sequel never got done.
But with Black Mesa Resources, there would be a great opportunity to finally get it done.
I mean with all the resources there, all they would need to do is code the multi-player create the custom Player Models/Weapons/Maps.
They could re-use many textures and models like they did with HL1.
I know it is a long shot but I still have hope.
Black Mesa ReSource? XD
I still want to see an Outbound mod, where you have to fight your way through Inbound (in the opposite direction, of course) to get to the dormitories, and then out to the main parking lot to safety (or slaughter by a couple dozen HECU snipers, whatever).
I find it ironic how uptight / flat out hostile all three remake teams (BM, OBM, GD) are to any suggestion of working together or sharing assets, or even basic coordinating to maintain some sort of continuity. I just think that’s odd because these remakes are themselves completely conceptually unoriginal by definition.
Basically, if Valve were even half as uptight as the mod teams about people “reusing” their ideas and work everyone would have gotten cease & desist letters a long time ago. As I said, ironic.
I have enormous respect for the mod teams (well particularly Black Mesa) and I appreciate their hard work, but IMHO this policy can only drag down the final quality of the mods.
this policy makes me particularly sad because frankly some of the OBM models are hideous (Bullsquid) and crap all over the original (Valve) design. I was kinda hoping someone would be able to smooth over the rough parts of the other mods with superior Black Mesa assets.
The reason BM doesn’t want to cooperate or share assets is because it would slow them down, and the others don’t have much to offer them at this point. If it’s possible to mod BM to an extent where OpFor can be made, they’ll have to wait until then if they want to use BM assets.
Yeah you know what? You’re right. Right now it would only slow down Black Mesa and I’m sure they want to get this thing out the door as soon as possible. I’m not worried about Black Mesa. I was more thinking how working with Black Mesa would help make the other mods better (more consistent with BM’s continuity and quality), and cut the workload for those guys.
Black Mesa certainly isn’t obligated to let other mods ride off of their hard work. I’m just thinking that simply on behalf of fully recreating the Half-Life experience, it would be a really cool and generous thing to do.
We’ll see. I have heard some things on the other projects to the effect of “we wouldn’t take Black Mesa’s help even if they offered it”, which I thought was really lame. I mean completing the mod takes precedence over some ego thing where they don’t want to be seen as needing anyone’s help.
If I sound critical about anyone regarding these things it’s just that I’d like to see all these projects succeed, so I just put in my 2c on ideas to make it easier/better. Like I said I really respect everyone’s hard work and dedication to making these games (for free no less).
I would love to see the other HL games updated too, Blue Shift, Opposing Forces, the mod Sven coop, plus I would really love some brand new content in these updates, updating these games should make it feel new though, it’s just that I love all things HL, and want more
Isn’t Sven coop dead?
On topic : I bet there will be TONS of multiplayer mods if multiplayer ever gets done.
Funny you say that, Sven co-op had a media update a few days ago.

Well I would love to play BM:Enhanced
Does skins and such go under this category? That’ll be the only modding I’m interested in.
