Black Mesa Mods

I meant no offense, but I would point out that it’s not as though the majority of the BM screens aren’t WIP either. As I suggested in my previous post, I’m sure that things will change significantly as OBM develops, just as Black Mesa has. I particularly like the screens and concepts from the latest media release.

I would also like to say that it’s not the quality or detail in the OBM media that bothered me, but rather the feel; I guess the environment just doesn’t have the same feel as the original. I would mostly attribute this to the textures & color schemes used. I would imagine that this can be one of the most difficult aspects of level design to nail, but somehow the Black Mesa media felt immediately familiar. Perhaps that’s just because it was the first remake of it’s kind that I had seen. One way or the other, the latest OBM release looks much better than the previous releases, and I’m sure future releases will be fantastic.

And maybe I’m just being picky because Opposing Force is my favorite of the original games. :stuck_out_tongue:

to be fair, BM wasn’t too pretty back when i first started following it…

it’s all WIP, and custom content plays a big part. obm is a considerably smaller team atm, but i believe they can get there someday. it’s a matter of time and dedication.

I realize mods, in this thread, does not mean “moderators”, but can someone point me to the thread where Raminator got banned?

Notice that he’s still posting. That would seem to imply that he hasn’t, in fact, been banned.

Kester during his prime!

I’ve seen some better work of his in the media section once upon a time.
I believe kester still hangs out on these forums actually…

Yuppers.

I use to love playing the sven co-op back in the day  .

Ooh that just killed the discussion.Woohoo  !

Kester’s last activity was november 19, according to his profile.

I demand special title…

I kissed Kester’s arse, and all I got was this tupid user title? :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, how the hell do you go about modding a mod? :retard:

With mods of course. I’ll have to modify my mod so I can mod the mod without a mod modifying me.

In Hammer, you’ll just select Black Mesa, or something like that… I don’t recall what exactly the devs said, but basically, you will be modding in such a way that you won’t be able to run whatever mods are made unless Black Mesa and all its contents (textures, models, etc) are present. Now, whether Black Mesa mods would simply go in the SourceMods folder or in some subfolder of Black Mesa itself, I have no idea.

I just want to get my hands on the Black Mesa FGD’s.

It would definitely get me back into mapping for a good long time.

Luckily for you, they’ll be included upon release.

You’ve been making that joke a lot. Did you just discover that meme? :retard:

I think i just win a stare match.

who is Kester what you is talking about ?

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
