Yeah I just have a quick question. I have the Half Life platinum pack on steam. Is that good enough for the mod when it comes out or do I actually need to buy one of the source games for it? I also have counter strike but its not source.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/630/ says that it includes Source SDK, so possibly you don’t even need to buy anything.

Since the Half-Life Platinum Pack contains only Goldsrc games, you cannot play Black Mesa until you buy a game that has Source SDK included. This does not include Half-Life: Source, or the free version of Half-Life 2: Deathmatch and Half-Life 2: Lost Coast.

Guys, Alien Swarm is listed in the “includes Source SDK” category. Black Mesa and probably some other mods were using that list as a reference to what games can be used to run the mod. If the Alien Swarm doesn’t include SDK that enables running Black Mesa (and other mods that require it), then it shouldn’t be on that list.
This maybe isn’t the appropriate thread, but that screenshot reminded me.
we will know in “approximately 1 hour” if Alien Swarm will work or not. That list used is generated by valve if the game includes the SDK (thus the sdk base) and that is the requirementfor black mesa to run.
On the Alien Swarm page, which uses the Source SDK says: This game will unlock in approximately 1 hour, DOES THIS MEAN BLACK MESA WILL BE RELEASED IN APPROXIMATELY 1 HOUR?
I don’t see why it wouldn’t work, but the penniless community shouldn’t get their hopes too high in case it doesn’t.
