Black Mesa interview on Rock Paper Shotgun

NIce! I was wondering if we would get any interesting Black Mesa related interviews this year.

This should go to the news section too.

Wow! This thread already have a ghost page or is it just me?

EDIT: Nevermind, you can’t see it now since my post ended up in a new page.

Also, the rest of the internet is spreading rumors again.

Brace yourselves! the trolls will be registering like crazy.

Look at you with the foresight n all…

The idea of improving on Half-Life appears to have been too much for some of RPS’s readers fragile little minds. Some serious rose-tinted glasses being worn over there.

Gamers are a very inconsistent and contradictory people.

They are consistent in that way.

Anxiously waiting for part 2.

Lovely stuff.

Where the hell did you get that from?

It’s beautiful. I mean, horrible. But beautifully done.

EDIT: Oh, Facebook Update. Great. Now we have the one new photo of the interview in higher-res and this new grim one. Any more coming our way?

Is that a Vortigaunt being dissected, by the way? I thought so at first, but I seem to glimpse the new back-straightening thing Alien Grunts have. They’re very similar to each other in the mod, thankfully (it makes sense), but I really couldn’t make out what that dissected piece of meat was supposed to be.

Anyway. Strangely artistic, isn’t it? Like, the mood lighting, the big puddle, the scary machine… it’s all placed in a eerily perfect, beautiful way. As I said before: Horrible, of course, but beautifully done.

Most gamers are trolls that freak out and rage on every little thing. Black Mesa has 4 sections, the long-time forumers, the dedicated forumers, the nooby forumers, and the trolling forumers.

The original vs the new

Holy shit. The Source Engine may not be Crysis material, but the difference is staggering. The new surgical room is much more eerie and scarier too. Which was the feeling back in 1998 with the original room. Now… it looks really bland.

Oh my

It looks like the surgical tool is dripping blood. Does that mean we will actually watch a scripted scene in which that puddle of blood with extra human bits is created out of a screaming scientist?

OH MY GOD IT’S SO HORRIBLY AWESOME :fffuuu::aah::awesome:  :what:

I have come to the conclusion that I don’t want to see any more media before the release. So damned awesome! :’(

I just noticed, that is questionable ethics, it’s the spinning spiky thing, but changed to look way cooler, I figured this out from the scientists in the backround.

Indeed. I don’t understand how any one can think a game is “perfect”. Perfection is in the eye of the beholder. BM is not merely a graphics update, it will be a new experience altogether, with new takes on most sections of the campaign. We will constantly be comparing new versions of areas/rooms to the old ones we have memorized down to the pixel, and in some cases it may take some time to go “Ooooohh, it is THIS area/room.”.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
