Me likey the Woop Woop was what I miss more than the lines but as a whole itâs excellent
An idea: ONE (and only ONE) scientist should have some dialogue that goes along the lines of:
âI just had this dream where Breen rules the world and looks down upon us from his giant tower [then some form of ironic relief afterwards]â
iâd like to see cheeky nods to hl2
The only issue with that is the developers donât want to make cheeky nods to Half-Life 2.
They want to make an authentic recreation of the original with as few minor tweaks to the story as possible.
Trust me, youâre not the first person to ask for a nod to later games in the series, and I am just telling you what the devs told them.
They do have sideways references to HL2 in the mod. For example, if you blow up the food in the microwave at the beginning, the scientist sitting at the table says, âWe will never hear the end of this.â This is a direct reference to Arne Magnusson near the end of Half-Life 2:Episode 2, without actually mentioning his name.
True, but that is just a tiny reference of a reference to something in the first game. It isnât anything super obvious that tampers with the classic story. I see your point, but i just think the dream thing is a little too much.
It sounds just fine - it is just an announcer.
Personally I liked it better before, without the extra vegetation.
Thumbs up for VOX additions though.
ditto
Even thought they did not really change the story that much i noticed that every security guard mentions barney, also the one security guard pulled that prank on me that i wont spoil⌠that i did not expect⌠and it was a nice touchâŚ
Look for the secret area in the cliffside area of Surface Tension!
I believe Eli mentions either Alyx or his wife by name after the disaster if you idle enough around him, or keep hitting E on him.
Or I could be remembering un-used files in the VO folder for the mod.
I think there is no reason to be so perfectionist. How much longer it will take?
Until itâs perfect.
They can always make improvements later on by patches
Okay, but realistically, how many people are going to replay a story-driven singleplayer game just to see whatâs been added in a patch?
That doesnât tend to work out well.
Yeah, for example: I wonder how many prople who played the original portal knows that the ending was changed shortly before Portal 2 was announced, I believe.
This is made for the people who will and for those who havenât yet.
-
Add the vegetation sprites - it looks more natural. Careful with them clipping through rocks and the like, as usually occurs elsewhere.
-
Reduce the length of time for the pauses between words in the VOX announcements - makes it appear like the âannouncerâ is mentally/physically challenged. The announcements are way too drawn out/extended. Make their pacing closer to as they are in HL.
Make more stuff moveâŚI just like it when pieces of the background have subtle movements. Is it hard to make grass sway back and forth? I have little knowledge of things like this. I justâŚreally like swaying grass.
