Black Mesa: Blueshift

+1

This is looking very nice

Looks awesome. Maybe you should make this a community project. It’d be the third mapping project that brings back original HL stuff so far.

That looks great. Can you post some more screenshots of that cafeteria area? I always thought that place was cool.

Uh, what about Guard Duty?

What about it? No reason there can’t be multiple takes on the same game. The more the merrier.

Cool! This will be a remake which will be using BM assets.
I would like to see Gordon staring at Barney.

EDIT: What about Rosenberg?
EDIT 2: Oh wait, I’m already thinking about the mid parts. Carry on.

Yeah, if this was released before the Xen part of Black Mesa, the game may end cutting the Focal Point chapter but if Xen part is released first, this will be a great addon.

Dat doublepost

This looks better then Guard Duty if you ask me.
Kind of disappointing that so many mods let their familys test (not that its a huge problem ofcourse).

Looking forward to play this

How many devs in team? Or one man job?

Just myself

WOW, just WOW!

Long time ago I played the original one, looking forward to play this one, I really do, I had a look to ur vid, and it’s AWESOME!

Same cosistency as BM I hope, so the same kind of station, buildings, …

Cause we need to see BM again, but from another point of view.

But I know U know this

But why use a double rail above for one tram on some parts?

Ah, another lone mapper on a conquest for a grand remake  I’m currently doing the remake of Uplink with the BM content.

Screenshots look great! Remaking Blue Shift on your own is quite a job, though. Do you think you can pull it off?

Yeah, cause maybe some new models, some new coding, new sounds, new speeches and at the end when Blueshift is released, bugfixing

maybe instead, we could wait for Guard Duty and use the assets of this project to make it more in line with Black Mesa

What fun would that be? Guard Duty is it’s own mod with it’s own assets, Black Mesa the same, and this project is being done because the dude wants to do it. If 2 other groups decided to remake Half-Life, first I’d be surprised, then if they showed promise (much like this Blue Shift remake) I’d eagerly follow them just like I have Black Mesa just to see how they do it. Different takes on things can be interesting. If there was one of everything life’d be pretty boring.

Who knows, this dude might beat the odds and blow Guard Duty out of the water.

It already looks more like what I’d want in a Blue Shift remake. Basically this is what Blue Shift is to BM, I think. Guard Duty is just something completely new with the same basic storyline.

Seriously.
Some people want a reboot-like game, others want a sort of remake. No reason you can’t have both.

I know, I was just saying why I like this one

I was mostly agreeing with you.
I also personally don’t like the dark and desaturated look the other remakes are taking. I absolutely loved how colorful Black Mesa was. It was a good change from a lot of the recent games. Those vending machines had a huge impact on the feeling of an area. I mean, how often do you see purple lights anywhere? Games or otherwise.

If this would be a real game, what would be a good name for this? I suggest Black Mesa: Security Force.
