Black Mesa: Blueshift

There’s some new voice work, some new textures I believe and maybe a few models. Chumtoads FTW.

Looking nice Sky. Keep us updated!

Chumtoads were an enemy cut from HL1, actually. They make an appearance in OP4 too.

I know, but I’m 99.9% sure there isn’t any data for it in Black Mesa.

Oh, is that what you meant? Never mind then.

The big change for Blue Shift was the new health system. Instead of HEV or the PCV, Calhoun had to use new vests when he could find them. There wasn’t any “charging” of the vest like you get with the HEV. It ramped up the challenge a bit from HL1 in some places- the fights in the rail yard with the HECU were pretty intense. (Come to think of it, that’s probably the most new assets in the game right there- the textures and models for the train yard sequence, as well as the human teleporter in Xen.)

Oh yeah! That completely slipped my mind. Didn’t play Blue Shift more than once. Are the vests/helmets in Black Mesa separate models or simple additions to the existing guard models?

I think the FCS handled vests, radios, and other cosmetic features.

I liked the vest/helmet armor system. It was a neat change and made sense.

Yeah, was a neat change. kind of through me off a few times, though.

Ah, that would make sense.

Yeah but they still put up all these charging stations I couldn’t use. :frowning:

Yeah, but I still loved how they made completely new old-style charging stations even though you couldn’t use them. I love that kind of attention to detail.

Just a small update. I’ve duplicated the tram lines and changed a few things to make it fit more into Black Mesa.

Looks cool.

Awesome work man.
For the vests, you could always change the battery model to a vest.

Awesome!

wicked sick!

Keep working on it thats awesome!

Very cool. I have been working on a redesign for the first part as soon as you get off the tram.

You are clearly more experienced and yours is way more polished. I am still working on basic world building. No lights or NPCs for me yet.

I am jealous.

Don’t worry Deadlyvenom, if you keep practising you can do anything you can imagine really.

Also small update:

That’s looking great! If you don’t recreate all of Blue Shift I’m going to be super disappointed.
